18 more days in paradise, final

Post by liamsaunt »

Day 15
Everyone was completely exhausted from boat day and nobody felt like snorkeling. We spent the morning at the house and then headed into town for lunch at Waterfront Bistro. BLT

Day 16

We started out the morning at Hawksnest, tucked into one of the coves on the far left. You can’t get in the water from there but we were all just looking forward to relaxing and reading so this spot worked for us. Some people did end up walking down to the sandy part and swimming, but nobody felt like snorkeling.

We went into town for lunch at the Lime Inn. Caili’s baked brie:

(she ate the whole thing!)

Caesar salad with mahi:

After lunch we went to Jumbie. It was covered in sargassum:

There were stinging jellies too so we did not stay long. We went back to Cinnamon and swam the afternoon away.

Day 17

Last full day. We had planned to go back to Honeymoon but when we drove by Trunk the lot was empty so I called an audible. We swam for a couple of hours. There were many jellies in the water but nobody was getting stung so we stayed.

Final thoughts: it was sad to see how dry the island was this time. Writing this report made me realize how few pictures I took of the beaches this time. It just did not look the same as it usually does. That said, one other difference on this trip, which I am guessing is attributable to the dry weather, was that there were almost no bugs! I usually get eaten alive, but only got one mosquito bite this trip. I would rather have the lush green hills and lots of bites though. Maybe next trip.

I mentioned earlier that I like to collect sea glass. Here is the sea glass I found on this trip:

Any rocky beach is a good spot to look.

Summer 2015 favorites:
Beach: Cinnamon
Restaurant: Shipwreck Landing
Villa: tied! I loved both homes and would definitely stay at either again.

Until next time, thanks for reading!

Oh I really do hate when your reports are over. You vacation in a manner a lot like we do. I wonder how much of that sea glass was once part of a beer bottle. Maybe not the blue! You both look great! Fun to see your screennamesake all grown up, too!

Another terrific trip report! Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us. I cannot get over how dry the island looks! I also love your picture of the sea glass. I may start a new hobby now when we go back in a couple of months :)

Thanks again!

I always love reading your Trip Reports! Thank you so much for all the wonderful snorkeling photos! I really admire all the sea glass you collected this trip... I enjoy looking for sea glass while walking up and down the beaches but have never found that much!

Possibly my favorite part of your TR was the end... "PS: SAVE CORAL BAY!!!"
Amen :)

Great trip report. It looks like they got some rain so next time you go it may be greener. Be well.

Very much enjoyed your trip report as always. It's funny (because I feel old…) to see how your niece and nephew have grown up in your TRs since they appeared in them the first time. They are very, very lucky to have an aunt like you.

I must say that the Francis sunsets are my favorite sunsets on St. John.

Thank you for sharing your trip. Wish you hadn't left the day we arrived on the island. Next time!
