Fish ID please

Post by pmk »

Hi Everyone,

A school of fish passed us by very quickly as we were snorkling Tektite. They were skinny and around 8-10" long. They were moving quite fast, on a mission, so I wasn't able to get a decent photo. I tried ID'ing using my reference books but I'm stumped.

Anyone else recognize these. Again, sorry for the poor quality photo.

It is hard to tell due to the photo quality and color distortion in the photo from the deep water. My best guess is guagunache.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Good call, liamsaunt, especially considering the photo quality!

So it's a type of barracuda -- cool, I've never heard of guachanches before. Even cooler that they swim in schools.

thx, pk
