Trunk Bay News

Post by iheartsj »

The following message was posted on the Park FB page. If you are on island during the next week, you may want to be aware.

Effective today, Saturday, October 1, 2016, there will be no food, beverage or retail services available at Trunk Bay Beach, until next week. This is necessary to facilitate transition to Redwood Parks Company, the new concessions operator at Trunk Bay. Trunk Bay Beach will remain open during that time and rental of snorkel gear and chairs will continue to be available. Visitors to Trunk Bay are also being reminded that glass bottles and containers are prohibited on the beach. Virgin Islands National Park apologizes for this temporary inconvenience and will advise the public once these services are back in operation. For current updates, the public can call the park’s Trunk Bay office at 340-693-7620.

Thanks; useful information. It's hard to imagine how shutting down today, and resuming operation "next week" will allow the new franchisee to do much more than replace the Frialator oil, but presumably improvements to the facilities and menu can be done incrementally once they begin managing the concession.

Stopping by Cinnamon Bay last week for some water to hike America Hill, we noticed that there was an "Everything must go" sign at the entrance, with tables of t-shirts and other merchandise available for sale. T'ree Lizard's restaurant, the convenience store, and the watersports operation were all closed. The transition in concession management must be happening there at the same time.

All the best,

Kevin
