Cinnamon Bay day parking just nearly tripled!
Cinnamon Bay day parking just nearly tripled!
OK, I chose to break the story with Jenn over at News of St. John, but for those who haven't seen it, here are the news and photos, courtesy of this erstwhile cub reporter:

Oh, and thanks for all of the kind comments regarding my new website, www.weather.vi.
All the best,

Thanks for the update.

pmk: While the eco-tents are still under construction, we saw a number of canvas tent campers, and the concrete "cottages" had a number of occupants. The original parking lot still has most of the spots on the north side dedicated to campers, and they were mostly full (but that is only about 14 cars). Some fraction of campers still prefer to taxi or hitch. The concrete cottages will be replaced with newer, nicer lodgings starting maybe late next year; the official comment from the concessionaire is:
"We will be replacing and upgrading cottages pending final design and Park Service approval".
Which could be never, but I think that everyone is in alignment on this one.
And thanks, equineannie!
All the best,
Kevin

Hopefully they will create a new "amphitheatre" I have never been to a Nat'l Park Campground that did not have a "amphitheatre" to hold presentations for campers.
