As good as ever. Depends on your location.

If you are here doing high season, expect call drops because the system is overloaded.

The service is very good on St. Thomas and most of St John. CatherineBerg reception is very poor unless you are on top of the hill. If you're on cinnamon beach down below Catherineberg you have to go to the far end of the beach (toward Maho) to pick up the Saint Thomas tower. Almost all the other beaches are good.
The British towers are very powerful and have much stronger signals than US towers. it's not uncommon to get blown off AT&T and you don't know it. Be very careful. AT&T got tired of us calling and asking for reimbursement and threaten to not do that for us anymore so what we did is had them shut off our ability to roam on any foreign tower and that's been great. Also turn off cellular data unless you know you have a good ATT signal.
It's really not much concern when you are in your villa as most have wireless Internet. For example, we rent La Jolla Caribe in Catherineberg frequently and the wireless Internet is excellent throughout the house so we just use wifi calling. Be sure to enable that and it's free and fantastic! Always check that you're on ATT and WiFi and not 'boatphone' , 'lime' etc.
