How are the bugs?

Post by sasky »

In general on the island right now, how are they? Boring question I ask every time I'm heading down, but as I tend to get eaten alive, I need to prepare myself.

Related note, we have been to Francis 3 or 4 times and it's gorgeous BUT it is always so buggy and we've even been run off by mosquitoes in the past. When we hit up other beaches on the same day, they're usually fine with very few bugs. Is this normal for Francis in particular or just bad luck/timing on our part? I want to love that beach but it's fighting us! Haha...

In my experience, Maho and Francis were always bad. Maho got much better when they dried out that area across the road from Maho and put in the parking lot. I think the problem at Francis is similar due to the wooded and wet area to the right as you come into the beach. The solution may be to move further way form the entrance area.
