Thanks for taking the time to post. As usual your reports are amazing. I am not sure what you do for a job but you should seriously think about writing an island or restaurant cookbook. When you cook your food always looks so inviting. My food pictures never turn out like yours.

So glad the octopus came out to play. That has only happened once for me and I followed and watched it change and adapt to its surroundings for a half hour. How fun!

You sound like you truly relaxed and enjoyed the trip. Look forward to your summer instillation. You are so lucky! We are just on the yearly plan.

Thanks for the trip report and more ideas for dinner. I hate to even ask this, as I believe you have shared in the past, but do you mind sharing your camera equipment/set-up? Definitely don't want to take away from your skill (as I recognize the skill is with the photographer and not the camera(s)), but I am in the market for a new camera, and I've gotta start somewhere!

Always enjoy your Trip Reports Becky... Thank you for sharing!

I got a chuckle reading about your daily spot at Caneel and how there were no other chairs around your beach chairs! Your photos are always fantastic and the underwater ones are my favorite... especially enjoyed the ones from your snorkel at Maho with the octopus, happy parrot fish and lobster!

Thanks again!

Awesome trip report Beckey, I also would like to know what camera you use. Just bought a GoPro5 for trip next month and will use for first time tomorrow. Great food porn!! I thought I liked seafood:)

All I have to do is look at your photos and I am looking at my dream vacation and I feel myself flooded with all of those happy memories had on STJ. There is something about that shot of the Shipwreck Landing sign that puts me right there at Shipwreck Pat's looking out at that view and counting my blessings.

Last year was the first time in 15 years we were unable to go to our happy place. Last April our nephew got married in Sonoma and Luke (#2 son) was accepted to Pepperdine so our annual spring trip to STJ was replaced with to a trip to wine country, south on the coast to LA so we could tour the school. I knew the minute he saw the campus that we'd lose him to California for 4 or so years. :( Fast forward one year and he wants to transfer back East to Boston. :D I can't say I'm not doing a happy dance about that! Buying that one way ticket for him back home after finals felt good!

So now we are able to get back to STJ- just a couple weeks later than we normally would. This will be our first May trip and I can't wait. Happy place is just 5 weeks away! Thanks for sharing your fantastic photos!

Becky, I meant to ask what unit at Gallows you were in. It looks like maybe Bldg 2 or 3? We'll be in our favorite- 15C. It's not the most private but we love the combo harbor/ocean view. Also, has anything opened where Island Blues used to be?
