One night on STT ?

I know this has been asked a million times but......

We have such an early flight ( 8:15 am ) with Jet Blue that we decided to stay on STT the night before and figure we need to be very close to the airport. We have previously stayed like that at Emerald Beach and it was great ! But here is our problem this time . We are going to need 2 rooms and they want almost $550 for that one night for the two rooms. It will be our daughter , son-in-law , our 2 grandkids ( boy and girl , twins age 15 ) hubby and me. It also states that there are 2 full size beds ...not queen beds...in each.

Where else could we maybe stay that is not sooooo expensive and still get to the airport by 6 am ? We need the rooms for Saturday night, July 15th .

Thanks for any help you can give.
Sherry

I might try Island View Guest House. Not quite as close but no more than 5 minutes further and they can arrange transport to the airport. Should be more reasonable as could probably get 3 rooms for the same $. Plus the owners are great with an on-site restaurant.

We always stay at the Galleon House. Coming and going to STJ. It's right in the middle of town, but getting to the airport is no problem as they arrange transportation. The rooms are cheap, (from about $70-125 per night depending on amenities & view). And the owners are friendly. Only downside is the many stairs to get up to the lobby and the rooms.

No personal experience with this one but in the future, if we need one night on STT, we're going to try this Green Iguana Hotel...seen a lot of good reviews for it.

We've also done the Emerald Beach next to the airport and for the limited time we were there and the fact that we only needed a bed and a shower, thought we could have done better elsewhere for less money.

My wife and I own Great Expectations on St John. For St Thomas, we use ourselves, and recommend to our guests, Bluebeards Castle which is located between Havensight (where the cruise ships dock) and the Legislature ( the beautiful old red fort at the east end of Charlotte Amalie). Ask for a room with a view of the harbor. They have a great pool, restaurants on-site if you do not want to cook in the apartment's kitchen, and, best if all, are a lot less expensive than a hotel.

I can also recommend Green Iguana. Stayed there 2 nights in Feb enroute to STJ. Reason was that Island View was unavailable. No on-site dining but owners are great. Can walk the 99 steps to downtown. IF staying one night i like the idea of dining without a cab which can do either place but at GI have to either walk back up the stairs after dinner or take a cab for safety sake.

You might also check Olgas Fancy in Frenchtown. Green Iguana is a very good choice too and well run. Island Beachcomber next to Emerald Beach may be worth checking out too.

Watergirl , I checked Galleon House ...but unfortunately all those steps wouldn't be doable. Our daughter had major back surgery 4 years ago . She couldn't maneuver those . Thanks for the info . :)

Chas, Bluebeard's Castle would be perfect :) but they have a two night minimum . :( Have you ever been able to get them to rent just a one night stay?

54b ...Green Iguana .... still checking it out .

gmanka ...I tried to find a link that would let me see what they may have available . I googled their site but no luck. :(

Exit Zero, Can you tell me how to find Olgas Fancy ? I know you live on STT...but have you ever stayed there or know someone that has...I have let time get away from me ! It probably will be Friday before I can even book . Everything is pretty crazy here right now . Trying to get kids and grandkids ready . This will be only the second time they have been on a plane and they're freaking !!

Thanks everyone for your help ... I will keep trying the places you all have mentioned .

Find it online at: or use google

http://www.olgasfancy.com/the-hotel

Find it geographically:
western tip of Charlotte Amalie Harbor
aside of Oceana Restaurant
down the road from CYOA along the water
5 min. walk to Tortola Wharf

I have not stayed here BUT have many friends who have, I know the owner and I have visited the property and some rooms a few times. The newly remodeled rooms are top notch, the pool is clean and well cared for , the location is walkable to many restaurants and town.

Windward is fine - walk to ferry dock,Frenchtown, downtown - mostly business travel, bvi overnight charter groups, Danish groups -- standard rooms - on the waterfront highway downtown - 5 min. to airport /taxi.

Flamboyan is Magens Point resort - way out of town or ferry route - great little coffee shop [Cup and Cork] not on a beach - 15 min+ walk to Magens bay - expensive cab rides both to/from there and airport. Taxis charge per person too.

Hummmm.... sounds like Flamboyn is out . We are renting our jeeps on STJ so we will be dependent on taxi for all transportation that day and to the airport.
Thanks again !
