Wreck of the Rhone Dive

I will be on St. John for a week in November. I always visit off-season, but this has its drawbacks. On of the drawbacks is that there are fewer services available during November.

Two people from my group would like to do the Wreck of the Rhone Dive.

Does anybody know of a way to do the dive at this time. It seems that the dive shops are slow at that time and might not be willing to take divers.

Thank you,

John

John,

My husband and son dove the Wreck of the Rhone with Low Key Watersports. http://www.divelowkey.com/dive_stjohn.html?PID=4

If Low Key isn't going, check with Colette of 6-Paq Scuba. My son really enjoyed his customized day out diving with her.

Enjoy your trip in November!

We went with Jo's family last year. If Low Key can't take you, try Cruz Bay Watersports. If you strike out with the two of them, take a look at BVI dive operators.

Don't forget, you will need a passport.

Its a nice dive, with a lot of work getting there. I would skip if Low Key or Cruz Bay Watersports are not running a trip. There are good wreck dives in the USVI.

If they insist on diving the Rhone, they could book with Blue Water out of Nanny Cay on Tortola. With the early Tortola ferry, they could be at Nanny Cay by 9am. Add $10 to the usually customs and immigration fees starting September 1 with a new ecological impact tax.

November conditions can be swelly and visibility may not be great. We have done the Rhone where we had +100' visibility and you could see the full wreck snorkeling. We have also done it when the surface conditions were very challenging, visibility was bad and anyone staying on the boat got tossed about.

Cheers, RickG

Thank you for your replies. In view of the damage caused by Irma, my little trip to the Carribean doesn't seem very important.

My heart and prayers go out to everybody affected by the Hurricane.
