The storm is projected to pass directly to the north of the island this afternoon, the eye will be passing closest roughly around 2-3pm. The eye will probably be ~20 miles north, but this storm is huge and extremely strong. If anyone on the forum has direct pull with the Big Guy, now's the time to use it

http://newsofstjohn.com/ is a 9:15 am update. Also, please use the hashtag #lovecitystrong when posting about St John and Irma. It's such a perfect short description of the resilience and happiness of StJ.

Let's bombard social media with some Love City Love and post pictures and well wishes to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with the hashtag attached. Feel free to use this pic if you want. I have no business motives associated with this. I'm just a long time visitor of StJ and love the island and people so much.

Be safe & #lovecitystrong! Image

That's the only source I've seen with an update from on-island.

All of the St. John based webcams I can find all seem to have last updated at 7:22.

There's a short loop from 8:53 on the Soggy Dollar webcam, but that's it.

The track for the eye looks to not be as far North as hoped, so will pass much closer to St John. Wind will be bad, but I fear the damage the storm surge and seas will cause. 7-11 feet is what NOAA is saying!

Praying for all of the islands to come through with minimal damage and for everyone to survive. :!:

This Reef Bay Nest cam is still live, winds are picking up, and the worst of the storm is still hours away https://video.nest.com/live/uIA8Yuxk18

Thanks for the link, Lark! There's absolutely no coverage on the islands here in MA - terrible not being able to know what's going on down there. Hope everyone is safe . .

From News of St John:
I just got a text from Jenn she said the winds are at 133 mph she and her friends are safe She fears the Island is being destroyed

The pictures from Tortola look absolutely horrible.

Unfortunately I'm sorry to report that the eyewall just hit STJ less than an hour ago, here's the current radar image at 2PM. All there is to do now is wait to hear from residents, and to pray if that's your thing

Heartbreaking.
I wish we could be there to help when it's time to clean-up.
Hold fast!
