Casa la Famiglia

Hello St John friends. I am hoping someone can comment on a particular villa. Casa La Famiglia. The owner said there was a path down to Klein Bay. Google earth shows that you have to cross Klein Bay Drive and past another property to get to what looks like a path down to the beach. If anyone can share any information on that villa and paths to the beach near that villa I would be grateful.

It's over 100 feet of vertical travel to get to sea level, so I'd consider it more a hike than a path. You may go down there once to see (but not with chairs and coolers and an umbrella), but I doubt you'll be strolling out to Klein with your coffee every morning.

Casa la Famiglia is way up on the hill above Klein. I would not consider that a reasonable walk (especially the walk back up!!). That said, there are two parking spaces at the beach that are supposedly reserved for members of the Klein Bay Association and their guests. You could luck out and get one. You do have to walk by a beachfront property to get onto the beach from the parking area, but the path does not actually take you into their yard.

If you want to be beachfront on Klein in a house of comparable size to Casa la Famiglia, look at Serenata de la Playa. We rented it a few years ago and, while older than CLF, it is lovely and truly right on the water. It has central air, a fantastic covered lanai and a nice pool.

liamsaunt I haven't seen you in forever- hope you are well! Did you hear that Argonauta is not going to be rented any longer? That made me sad!

Hello yes I am well thanks :-) I admit to being a lazy forumite. I never posted about our last trip because Irmaria happened before I finished editing the photos.

I knew Argonauta was on a limited availability schedule, but did not know that it was completely off the market. Hopefully that means that someone was lucky enough to move in there full time and not that it was heavily damaged in the storms.

We are sadly skipping STJ this year in favor of an extended stay in Bermuda this summer, some weeks on Cape Cod, and a milestone birthday trip to Paris and Dublin in the fall. John and I will probably be back to STJ in January 2019. I hope you are well and have some travel plans too.

We have stayed in Latitude twice. It is a comfortable villa. It is a very short walk to Klein Bay. The driveway is a bit steep, but that's it. I really like that neighborhood.
