Post-Irma Rebuilds Complete at Coconuts and Plumeria Villas

Post by Anthony »

Congratulations to our longtime and loyal advertisers Kevin and Danielle, owners of Coconuts and Plumeria villas! We are happy to announce that both of their beautiful villas are now fully rebuilt post-Irma, and are back in vacation rental. Ten long, trying months of hard work have paid off, and these sister villas are looking amazing.

Coconuts and Plumeria are now much stronger than before, with numerous reinforcements and upgraded amenities. At Plumeria, the new uninterrupted 24 foot wide concrete arch on the porch very beautifully frames the western view of many islands and the sunset. Both villas offer panoramic ocean views, refreshing pools, outdoor kitchens, billiard porches, hot tubs, and much more. And of course cable TV and high-speed internet have also been restored.

Check out their website (http://www.cocoplum.vi) for further information, or to directly enter reservation requests. If you have any questions, feel free to email k+d@cocoplum.vi.

St. John is more than ready for visitors, and now, so are both Coconuts and Plumeria villas.

Congratulations, and thanks for your continued investment in our favorite island!

Thank you for the link! Our hearts have always been at Gallows but as I feared they have recently jacked their already high prices. It may be time to switch it up to a villa.

Agent99, wow, I wasn't aware of the Gallows Point rates increasing (in 2019) until you just brought it to my attention. Gallows is the only place my wife and I stay when on STJ. (we've been there I think 7 times). We usually go in fall or spring and enjoy the shoulder season rates (upper ocean units) which have gone up $50/night. And I hate to even ask this, but I no longer see any mention of a 10% repeat customer discount, which was basically worth ~$50/night, so if that is no longer offered, then essentially it's a $100+ increase! Ugh - we love that place, but at some point it will be just too expensive.

Hi Ed,

I knew it was just a matter of time and now the the Caneel regulars need somewhere to go they will likely get their price. So the high season rate of $915 for an ocean upper with 2 extra people and room taxes puts it well over $1000 a night. Harbor uppers are a little less but the only time we can go next year is high season. It's past time for us to get a house anyway. It's just that Gallows has always been our sentimental favorite. We may even try Bequia next year as we did a lot of research when we weren't sure STJ was going to be ready for visitors. I'm very glad we went this year- we couldn't not go. The trouble is so many villas are off the market for now that the ones available are booking up high season. I noticed Plumeria is available for one week we were looking at. We need to make a decision fast.

Agent99, thanks again for the update. Yes, high season for 4 people sure gets expensive at the new rates. At least for us (just my wife and I) during shoulder season it isn't as bad, but certainly getting worse. Who knows, at some point this might also push us to consider a villa. We just love Gallows Point though, and after driving to beaches all over the island every day, it's nice to end the afternoon on their hammocks and a quick snorkel right there, then easily stroll into Cruz Bay for happy hours and dinners (oh and I guess my wife would add shopping to that list!), and not worry about parking and driving after drinks. We have never taken our kids (both late 20's) to Gallows (they have been to Sapphire Beach with us a dozen years ago)...... might be time for a family vacation in a nice villa in the future (for now though, we are sadly home bound, caring for our 17 year old dog who is just too old and ailing to leave behind). Do keep us posted on where your travels take you next, either a STJ villa, Bequia, or wherever.

Will do Ed! I actually prefer off season so I am sure that we will return to Gallows someday. It's just that next year our only window when we can all make it is the highest of high season- over New Years. Sorry to hear about your pup. That's really hard- been there sadly.

Thanks Agent99...... someday we will have a drink together at Gallows in the shoulder/off season! We are happy to make Lexie's senior years the very best they can be, especially now that she is completely dependent on us...... We are just missing STJ so much - after going at least annually since 2009, we are really feeling it and can't wait to get back, especially since the hurricanes. Sorry to hear you can relate to what we are going through.
