Anyone out there? Jeep Rental

Hi all. Got the villa secured. In the past, I've rented a Jeep on STT and brought it over. A little hesitant about that plan now with the ferry delays/issues. Any thoughts on this? We are a large party - so the STT rental saves us transportation costs to the ferry and also allows a stop at Walmart to stock up on food and booze . . .

We rented from Amy at Amalie on Sunday Dec 2nd and had zero issues. Landed at 2:20 pm,got our luggage (yes we checked luggage since we are here 2 weeks and are overpackers) and got to Red Hook by 3:15 and caught the 4:00 car barge without issue. We are returning on Sunday the 16th and will allow extra time just in case. Things seem somewhat better with the Grand Vic in service

Sunday’s seem to have less commercial traffic (trucks, garbage, construction etc) but not sure about how busy 2 days before Christmas. Also you might want to take a look at FB “St John car barge schedule “ for real time updates.
Have a great time!

We rented two jeeps from Amalie for our Nov 20 - Dec 1 trip and had no issues. Our group was 4 couples and we stayed on STJ. We've been doing this for around 10 years.

On our first couple of trip we rented on St. Thomas and had no issues. We, like others, wanted to get the car and get our vacation stated. We wanted the freedom to stop where we want. As there became issues with barges over the years we did not want to spend time worrying about the barges so we started renting on St. John. We have not regretted that decision one bit. We have used Rachel once to get to Redhook and she is very nice but not always the quickest. We now just take the first taxi that is available.
