I will do a full trip report later, but I wanted to let you know that we had connected with Rhea at Pets with Wings (Humane Society of St. Thomas) and escorted a precious puppy to Newark NJ on our return flight home yesterday evening. We had never done this before, and in talking with Dawn on our Necker Island excursion (Dawn has a shelter in Boston and a sister shelter "Off the Rocks" on St Thomas), she got us thinking..... We are so glad we did this - it was super easy and knowing we got a puppy off island and to a shelter in the states was so gratifying. Pets with Wings does not yet have any NJ shelters that they work with, but another woman from Connecticut on our flight agreed to take a second puppy also, and was driving back to Conn. last evening and drove both puppies to the shelter in Waterbury. (usually, someone will simply meet you at your destination airport and take the puppy or kitten, but this worked out conveniently this time). As we speak, my wife is identifying no kill shelters in NJ so Rhea can add NJ to her list of 13 states she already works with).
Rhea can be reached at 340-643-0796

It was so easy and we will do it again on our next return flight home. Please consider helping out if you can - it is such a great feeling!!!! TIA, Ed

Well Ed, if you have to leave your happy place and you’re feeling sad there is probably no better way to lift your spirits than to meet a new puppy and take it to a place to find it’s furever home. Kudos to you and your wife for helping that baby.
