Looking for a long term rental on STJ

We are looking to rent a house not an apartment in the area of Gifft Hill to Cruz Bay. We are looking for two bedrooms, view, ac in bedrooms, washer/dryer and nicely furnished. Please let me know if you hear of something. We would like to start a one year lease around August 1 and keep it under $2,500 per month.
I've been checking craigslist, the tradewinds newspaper and vimoving center daily. I've also spoken with Scenic Properties. Is there any other classifieds I should be checking?? Do you think I should post on the Connections wall? Thanks for any help!

Soonthebeach--we are moving to STJ at the end of August. I have a couple of friends looking out for us on island but it never hurts to reach out to our forum friends.
We thought we had the "perfect place" last week but the access to the three bedrooms was from the exterior. That wouldn't work for us with our 7 yr old :( It seems like there are a lot more properties coming on these days so I am hopeful! It is just driving me a bit crazy not having a place secured but I realize it is early.
I will definitely keep the forum posted!

WOW- SO awesome! What an adventure- esp for the 7 year old! We have thought about moving for several years but just can't make it work out with employment. We have young kids, too. What a fantastic life it will be! I definitely want to hear more about it as you move along. You should do a blog ;-)

Sure you wouldn't consider Fish Bay?

I have a close friend moving stateside in mid July. House is in the flat part of Fish Bay with beautiful gardens. It was built by these friends of mine. Her in-laws live next door. I can not say enough about how beautiful this house is, and how nice the grounds/yard is. This is not the ordinary find in rentals on STJ. The price is slightly above your limit, it never hurts to ask for a discount. I saw her last week and she has not rented it. Not saying she can discount the rent, but I would sure ask. She is a wonderful person who lost her husband Amos in a tragic auto accident recently on island. Amos was an island landscape designer, thus the beautiful yard. Feel free to ask me questions, I lived in Fish Bay when I arrived on STJ back in 2007. Then HAD to reluctantly move to Gift Hill when the house was sold I lived in.

Congrats, Julie!

Puddlejumper, I am so sorry to hear about Amos - such a tragedy. I was staying right above Ditliff earlier this month and I would run down into Fish Bay and back. There is a very lovely memorial on the turn for him. It's a sun looking out over the water and there are flowers.
