Relocating for the winter

Hellloooo out there!
I have achieved the seemingly impossible this week and have been offered a job on Saint John without actually being there first. Now, the nitty gritty search for a long term rental presents itself and craigslist is being of no help what so ever. I am a 31 y/o female with great people skills, a fun-loving attitude and a dedication to my craft. I am excited to break away from my beloved Colorado for a few months to experience something new, exciting and extremely different! I also do some freelance writing in my spare time so my hours spent at home are spent quietly with the exception of the pitter patter of the keyboard. I have no animals and will be traveling lightly and am searching for a place to call home for a few months.

I know, from my research that apartment/sublet hunting is best done by word of mouth on the island, but then, so is finding a job and I have accomplished that goal 6 weeks out. So, I am posting for pointers! If anyone has any ideas, please, help a sister out! The benefits of having me around are endless, if you like a lot of laughter and a decently good time. My current roommate/landlord is EXTREMELY sad to see me go!

Thanks in advance!!!!

There are a ton of apartment rentals right now on the board at Connections. Good luck!

Ok- thank you so much for the info. If I do in fact land on the island without a place to lay my head for a few nights, what are my options for lodging that won't break the bank? I'm not opposed to sleeping under the stars as camping is my number one recreational activity here in Colorado :o

Cinnamon Bay Campground... http://www.cinnamonbay.com/home.html not very convenient to Cruz Bay unless you have a vehicle.
Maho Bay Camps... http://www.maho.org/ not very convenient to Cruz Bay unless you have a vehicle.
Some other places that come to mind are
Lavendar Hill... http://www.lavenderhill.net/ (walk to town)
Cruz Views... http://www.caribbeanvilla.com/st-john-c ... ruz-views/ (long steep walk I hear)
Sugar Bird Nest... http://www.vrbo.com/197654 (not sure if walking distance)
Samuel Cottages... http://www.samuelcottages.com/
Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel... http://www.cruzbayhotel.com/hotel.html (in town)
St John Inn... http://www.stjohninn.com/
Lime Inn... http://limeinn.com/
I am sure that there are other places that I have not thought about.

I must add that I have not stayed at any of these.
If you post your question... "... a place to lay my head for a few nights, what are my options for lodging that won't break the bank?" on the "St John" forum, you may get some good responses. Wishing you good luck!
