Long term car rental

Post by augie »

Where are some places to inquire about securing a long(ish) term car rental for use on STJ?

The fact that Leslie will be living on island for a while before I can join her has me less than enthralled with the idea of buying an on-island "beater", since she'd be on her own if it had mechanical issues.

More than one of our on island friends have *strongly* recommended that we find a good vehicle here, then ship it to the VIs. So that's our plan, but time is running short and she'll need transportation from the moment her plane is wheels down.

Do you know of any companies that offer price breaks for month long ( or series of month long) rentals?

Try Zip Car Rentals in St Thomas. I rented from them, when I relocated, and had monthly deals. The lady who owns them is Lisa, they are super nice, I would never rent from anyone else. You can reach her at 340-715-1501.

Feel free to tell her Ann Pennywitt, a former client of theirs, recommended her. Cheers and congrats on your move!

Thank you Ann - I called Lisa and she was great!

And she came through for us when it didn't look too promising (due to Carnival)!

I'll certainly add our endorsement of Zip Rental to yours!

You need to be careful regarding your insurance when you do a long term rental. I have collision coverage provided through my credit card but it is limited to two weeks of coverage. You best check with your credit card issuer.
Then or at the same time check with your personal insurance company as sometimes there is a time limit as to how long your staeside company will provide coverage.
