Wow. I really can't imagine what high tide tonight is going to be like. Really starting to think that every house along the beach in Ocean Co. might be gone -

The wind and rain are starting to kick up a bit and our office manager just heard that power outages are happening to the east of us.

I saw that Seaside Heights photo already - and - I think it is an old one - maybe from Irene. There seem to be a lot of older pictures being posted on Facebook and other sites...

Thats entirely possible because I copied it from another person who probably copied from somebody else - sorry about that. I should only repost screen shots from reliable sources or that are dated.

capegazette.com has some pics of the shore and flooding in Rehoboth and Lewes. Storm is tracking towards Cape May. Be safe. Anyone within 20' elevation of Mean Low Tide? High tide and full moon about 9:30pm tonight.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

We heard rumors (since rescinded) that three houses in Mantoloking were "gone" - but now are hearing that waves are just lapping at them...

This is from the Mantoloking police dept. Facebook page:
"Due to water depth, ans high winds, emergency services are suspended until further notice. As soon as we can get back in to town, we will give up dates if we can. We are very busy, there is a lot going on.
As for the beach and dunes, last we were able to check, there wasn't dunes or beach left, waves are breaking and rolling between the homes."

Yikes. This could exceed the infamous Ash Wednesday Storm of 1962 that cut LBI in two.Anthony wrote:This is from the Mantoloking police dept. Facebook page:

Re: Official (!) Hurricane Sandy NJ thread -
So we are hearing and seeing a few things this AM but as most people are out of power and I would imagine by now have near dead cell phones there isn't as much news as you would think.
Local to Mantoloking - there is a report that there is either a house or part of a house on the Mantoloking bridge. Some reports said that a house floated into the bride. In any case - something happened there. There were also several residents that did not evacuate - we have heard via their family members that they are okay, but that the whole town is basically beach - from the ocean to the bay - flowing sand was everywhere. So the dunes on the ocean must be gone, but it seems like no beach houses have floated away wholesale.
I saw some pictures from Seaside Park and Toms River this morning - things look totally chaotic. Obviously many trees down, lots of debris everywhere - will be one hell of a clean up. I hope everyone made it through okay. My wife is probably going to have to head home to sort out the remains and we still have no idea of just how high the water got in the house but have to assume it was a couple of feet on the ground floor from what we are hearing (and hoping!). Then there is the roof, chimney, decks, etc. I can only imagine - really can't wait until someone from the family can get there.
