Great Exuma - A new adventure :)

Post by Connie »

I gave a list to my husband and said pick one. We both decided on Great Exuma.

I have no idea what we just got ourselves into. I know nothing about it, but have been trying to research. Just wanted to have something different. Have been to Paradise Island, but wasn't thrilled.

Did I do the right thing?

Yes, all the Out Islands are wonderful...no cruise ships and heavy duty touristy spots. I am a diving Instructor and I have been to several Out Islands: Great Exuma, Cat Island, Columbus, Andros, and they remain the only Bahama islands I will visit. Enjoy!

The Out Islands are on our wish list but logistics keep steering me away. Weather too, we travel in winter and I was once on the phone making a reservation and the woman cautioned be about the cool (by their standards) winter weather.

I am interested in your plans, especially as it relates to flights.

Don't know if reading will help you plan, but it is a fun read of a sailing trip... http://vicki-h.travellerspoint.com/167/

Pa girl, we're taking a direct flight to Miami from Philly and then a smaller American plane right into Great Exuma.

To tell you the truth, this is new to us that I'm just going with the flow

Please post a trip report as we are seriously thinking about going here. I've been put off by all of the reports about how crowded STJ has become and have been toying with the idea of Great Exuma, Eleuthera and Bequia. Where are you staying? We've been thinking about the dreaded all inclusive because it's a new island, we've never done an all inclusive and having everything catered to us sounds pretty good right about now  .

Trauma, we are renting vrbo 942603. From all my research, it's a nice place to stay. We're going to wing it. We rented a car and we're going to rent a boat for a couple days. If you go on trip advisor, you'll find a lot of information, but it's confusing. From what I can tell, in general, GE is gorgeous, very laid back and the people are amazing.

Jim....I'll definitely write a trip report. Going early October. What is BYOP?

Why it's a "Bring Your Own Porkroll", naturally!
Between the beaches, Sunday Pig Roast, and a guy named Kingsley there if you need anything, you'll be in heaven! oh,- and Steve's sounds deelish,too...!
If all goes well, let's plan a couples trip for next fall!!!
Looks glorious, you deserve it.
Love ya's- gimme a hollar.
Smiles-

Lol....Jim. Pork roll goes where we go. Definetly bringing it. In fact, we had it this morning.
