Girl, it's a grown-up drink! Lillet is a French apperitif wine, written about in several Hemmingway stories (along with every other liquour!)

Thanks Chet! Maybe when I grow up I'll get my mom to let me try it! And since I don't read much, I can't say I've ever heard about it in a Hemingway novel. Thanks for filling me in!

Yeah, Chet's right. It's basically a fortified wine. It is, I think, 18% alcohol. It is a little thicker than wine, and has kind of an herby flavor. It's nice lightened up with soda water or on ice with some citrus--I don't like it straight--it's too strong for me. Around here it retails for $20/bottle (750 ml, just like wine).

SO good. Here's the recipe I used. I tinkered with it a bit.
Mango Colada
serves 4
1/2 cup unsweetened mango juice or nectar (I used half half mango nectar half pineapple juice)
1 cup ripe mango cubes, fresh or frozen
Juice of one lime (about 2 tablespoons)
3 ounces (1/3 cup) cream of coconut
1/2 cup rum (used half light rum half mago rum)
1 cup crushed ice (or 1/2 cup if using frozen mango)
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and thick. Serve in tall glasses and with a straw.

Printed your recipes plus PAgirl's pitcher recipe. Guess now the Ayers will be the "alcohol-crazed, unsophisticated" STJ travelers.
Thanks for sharing.

Ok, here's a drink I collected the recipe for, but have never made. For PJ: RUSSIAN QUAALUDE 1/3 Stoli 1/3 Frangelico 1/3 Bailey's Shake well Can add a dash of milk & blend it with ice, if you like. Easy! Why haven't I tried it?

We used to have those all the time at the local TGI Friday's - it was our customary "warm up" shot.
As soon as we walked in the door the bartenders would see us and start mixing 'em up.
But I haven't had one for many years. Until now - since you reminded me of them I may have to make some this weekend!
Come see us!

Haven't made CG's recipe yet, but last night I made icy cold margaritas:
