MaryBeth, I want some!

Here is our traditional tree decorating drink...Baileys! We only have it then. We had to throw out an entire bottle of it from our liquor cabinet last night...it expired in March. Boo.

Oh my. It's hardly remarkable, but it's good if you like martinis and olives. It's a dirty martini from this month's Southern Living magazine. If anyone's interested, I will share the recipe. But the best part is the glass. :)

Liamsaunt, I have one of those cups too. I haven't seen them anywhere for a long time.

Cosmo...mmmmm.

ooh, I love the martini glass! I did not know that the painted glasses came in martini shapes. I would have ordered some of those instead of more wine glasses if I had known.

pj, yeah, the glasses are kind of old--I am pretty sure they were a promotionial item that we mailed away for about 10 years ago.

I have the martinis with the crooked stem. Charlie liked those but honestly they are awkward to hold!

I want a drink, and it's only 10 a.m. Thanks, girls.

I've got nothing to contribute today (although I do have an awesome cosmo recipe and cute martini glasses, just not at work on either count), but I wanted to tell you all that I am absolutely fascinated that booze can expire. Who knew?

I want some Bailey's on the rocks, I think. Or that stuff with the elephant on the bottle that I discovered when "free liquor guy" was trying to woo me. (He hasn't wooed me in months. Maybe I need to buy some.) Anyhow, it's a creamy liqueur like Bailey's, and it's pretty yummy.

Lulu, I don't think most booze ever expires (not the hard stuff anyway), but Baileys does because of whatever they put in it to make it creamy. There is even a "best by" date on the back of the bottle.

I've got bottles of rum, gin, and vodka from my honeymoon still in my liquor cabinet--they definitely don't expire!

Ok I just had to share this with you all, especially those of you who also made the Cranberry Liqueur.

I gave a bottle to each of my bosses' (I technically have 2 bosses) wives. I just got a phone call from one who just had a cosmo made with it. She LOVES it (and might have been a bit tipsy) - best phone call I have gotten in a long, long time. It was hysterical!! So worth the effort of making and bottling it all!

Happy holidays, all!

I have had this night time cough...It honestly starts at 6pm every night for at least a week. My husband whom has never slept anywhere else but our bed (ie: the couch) for our almost 20 years of marriage is ready to buy a futon... My mom suggested a stinga (stinger) for all of you not from Boston it is Creme de menthe and Brandy and my parents gave it to me so it has got to be at least 20 years old....I let you tomorrow if it works because NYQUIL just isn't cutting it....lights out....hopefully.... good night....wish me luck!

I made this cocktail Friday night. It is from Ina Garten's new cookbook. I really loved it--most times I only like a few sips of a cocktail, but I drank this entire one! It's very fresh tasting and not too sweet:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/3122354637/" title="juice of a few flowers by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3085/3122354637_00f3eede45.jpg" width="500" height="484" alt="juice of a few flowers"></a>

recipe:

combine the juice of 1 pink grapefruit, 1 lemon, 2 limes, and one orange with one cup vodka. Shake for at least 30 seconds over ice, then strain into a glass rimmed with sugar. She says this makes four drinks, but I got about 6 from it.
