Nancy, I'm not sure if you want to leave out the Coco Lopez because of the consistency or the calories, but there is an alternative. It's called Coconut Snow and it's a powder with the same taste as Coco Lopez, and probaby fewer calories (but don't quote me on that!) I find it at my local grocery store, but here's a link so you know what you're looking for http://www.liquorama.net/index.asp?Page ... odID=20368

My "bastardized" version of a Painkiller is 2/3 pineapple juice, 1/3 orange juice, 1 oz. Coco Lopez (which you can leave out, of course), 1 shot of Cruzan Mango and 1 shot of Cruzan Coconut. Way Yummy!

Yummy on the painkiller recipes. Hubby brought home Cruzan coconut last night. I liked it so much he says he's going to have to hide it. Didn't have the mixers, so just had a "few sips" straight up.

Does anyone have a drink recipe that uses apple brandy? I'm using it for my Thanksgiving turkey and have no idea what to do with the rest. Thanks!

The classic drink with apple brandy is the Jack Rose:
2 oz Applejack brandy
1 oz lemon juice
1 oz grenadine syrup
Shake with crushed ice and strain into a cocktail glass.

Pia's famous "Knickers Off Margarita"

1) Fill glass with ice (hint use small glasses  )
2) Fill glass 3/4 full with Tequila
3) add equal amounts of Grand Marnier, Cointreau and Roses Lime Juice
4) Transfer to a shaker but do not shake
5) Squeeze lime wedge into mixture and use the wedge to moisten rim of glass and salt if you want.
6) Transfer to glass and enjoy :D :D :D

Pia's famous "Coral Breeze" aka "The Skeeter" (after we drank 18 of them and didn't feel them biting us) aka "The Stripper Drink" - ask Jorge why

Equal amounts of

1) Malibu
2) Captain Morgan
3) Pineapple Juice
4) Cranberry Juice

Shake and enjoy as shots, over ice as a drink or freeze and take to the beach - just stand waist high in the ocean at Maho and play "pass the Skeeter" :D :D :D

Sea-nile - I've been waiting for "hot chocolate weather" so I could try something I dreamed up last summer. Hot chocolate, coconut rum and espresso vodka. :P

Here's what I made last night...

Cranberry Crush

1 ounce vodka
1 ounce amaretto
1 ounce cointreau
3 ounces cranberry juice
2 ounces orange juice
juice of 1/2 lime

combine all in shaker with lots of ice, shake until very cold and strain into glasses. Next time I think I would add more lime juice.

I have to go cook Thanksgiving now...Happy Turkey day everyone! :D (And Happy Birthday to John! :D )

You and Danny Devito have something in common. Did you hear about his early morning on air appearance after a night with Limoncello? Very FUNNY. He was absolutely charming but totally sloshed at 10 in the morning :)

Well, it’s Friday, so it’s time to update the cocktail thread! Seeing RickG’s trip report photo of his orange drink on the rail of his villa reminded me that I took a similar picture at Cinnamon Tarn. Here is a photo of the drink I made:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/543351183/" title="amaretto margarita by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1133/543 ... 7bb55f.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="amaretto margarita"></a>

and the recipe (it’s from Cooking Light):

Amaretto Margaritas

Ingredients
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
1 1/2 cups fresh lime juice (about 9 limes)
1 cup tequila
3/4 cup orange juice
1/2 cup amaretto (almond-flavored liqueur)
8 lime slices

Combine sugar and 3/4 cup water in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 5 minutes or until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat; cool completely. Stir in lime juice.
Combine sugar mixture, tequila, orange juice, and amaretto in a pitcher. Serve over ice. Garnish with lime slices.

Makes eight drinks (four if you are on vacation  )
