The Official OT cocktail threadModerator: The Mgmt. As soon as John is ready we are off to spend the day with his extended family. I LOVE his parents, but some of the cousins and such are....well, let's just say they are characters. I will be bringing along some nice wine to ensure that I am able to hold a perfect Stepford smile as I am entertained with various conspiracy theories and details of surgical procedures. Last night I started to prime my mood with a glass of this:

Here is popcorn tossed with butter, freshly grated parmesean cheese, cracked black pepper, and truffle oil: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/2133454770/" title="popcorn by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2113/2133454770_d6b456ce83.jpg" width="500" height="466" alt="popcorn"></a> And here are some snacky nuts I made for my sister to serve her outlaws with drinks before dinner--they are roasted with maple, rosemary, and cayenne pepper: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/2131252900/" title="maple rosemary cashews by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2042/2131252900_036ee77d3c.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="maple rosemary cashews"></a> Happy holidays, everyone! It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Sorry my picture is a little blurry, but here is one of the Pina Coladas I made for our little New Year's Eve get-together. Becky, thanks for bringing back the plastic cocktail mermaid! I had to search to find them!
![]() This is the BEST Pina Colada you will ever have! 2 oz. light rum 1 oz. coconut cream 1 oz. heavy cream 6 oz. pineapple juice 1/2 cup crushed ice Pour rum, coconut cream, cream and pineapple juice into blender. Add ice. Blend for 15 seconds and pour into a 12 oz. glass. ![]()
I didn't get a photo but my sister enjoyed this mango martini yesterday
Mango Ginger Martini Ice 2 shots mango rum 2 shots mango nectar 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger Champagne To a martini shaker filled with ice, add all ingredients except Champagne. Strain and pour into martini glass and top with Champagne. Serve
YUMMM, I bet the ginger makes the difference
I love these tasty threads. One of my favorite wintertime cocktails is a blend of two old classics, the "Manhattan" and the "Old Fashioned". I swiped this from a local restaurant called Red Sauce.
In a cocktail shaker over ice: --1 1/2 oz. of your favorite bourbon. I like Makers Mark. --1 oz. sweet vermouth -- around a teaspoon of maraschino cherry juice --a couple dashes of Angostura Bitters Shake until icy cold and serve straight up in a chilled martini glass garnished with a maraschino cherry. Sit in front of a roaring fire with some nibblies and enjoy!
It's Friday, time for a cocktail!
![]() This is a lillet spritzer. It's very light and refreshing. I just put a little lemon ginger sugar in the bottom of the glass, poured in some lillet, squeezed in half of a lime, topped off with sparkling water, a little more lime juice, and then floated a lime slice on top. I think next time I will chill the glasses and shake the lillet in an ice shaker to get it really super cold. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/2201070670/" title="lillet fizz by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2385/2201070670_9a481f4e4f.jpg" width="500" height="479" alt="lillet fizz"></a> It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Liamsaunt, boy do you start EARLY on Friday
![]() I have to confess...I had to Google lillet before I made that comment to be sure it was alcohol ![]()
Here is last night's cocktail. It is similar to one I posted a while back. The mix is one ounce vodka, one ounce amaretto, 2 ounces orange juice, and three ounces cranberry juice, with a twist of lemon. That is lemon sugar around the rim.:

Here is a cocktail from this weekend. To make a big pitcher of them, combine one can goya peach nectar, 6 ounces tequila, 2 ounces peach brandy, and lots of ice. Blen until slushy. This will make a lot of drinks--maybe 10 or so.
