Territory on Tropical Storm Watch as Emily Approaches

Post by Anthony »

So the VI's look to duck the first storm of the season: (from the Source http://stthomassource.com/content/news/ ... approaches)

"After several days of dithering around trying to get stronger, a huge low-pressure system headed this way finally became Tropical Storm Emily at the National Hurricane Center’s 8 p.m. update on Monday. The Virgin Islands is now on a tropical storm watch, which means that a tropical storm conditions are possible over the next 48 hours.

“St. Croix will probably get it a lot heavier because it’s closer to the center,” Robert Mitchell, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in San Juan, said Monday.

He expects the center to track about 100 miles south of St. Croix Tuesday afternoon, but that could change a bit as Emily gets closer to the Virgin Islands. Emily could also get stronger, Mitchell said."

Good news for the VI but perhaps still an issue for other islands -

Thank you for this. I have not been able to get any of the weather sites to load and I can't figure out how to turn on the tv in the house we are at. It's beautiful here right now!
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Emily is stationary right now, so the models are not accurate as to where or when she is going to go. Closest point to STT is 197 miles out in +9 hours (if she was to follow forecast models)

Stay safe, have fun.
