Carnival

Post by mrscaptainjay »

STT Carnival is under way! I've been to more events this year than I have in the past and having a blast. Here are a few pics to give you an idea.

WOW. Why did I think Carnival was in July? Like around the 4th?

There are other Carnivals on other Islands than STJ - MrsCaptainJay lives on STT.

I knew other islands had Carnivals, I just thought they were generally at the same time of year.

Like Mardi Gras.

I didn't realize. Now I know.

St. Thomas carnival is usually last week of April. But with Easter being so late this year they pushed carnival back a week so that it wasn't going on at the same time. All the islands have carnival at different times of the year. I think it's just so that tourists and locals can go to them all lol. But there is probably some other reason ;-)

My response was trying to be concise not flippant - each Island has a Carnival [ STX - Xmas] - [Tortola -Aug monday] - [Virgin Gorda- Easter] - some are predicated on Lent, like Mardi Gras is -- Rio,Trinidad etc - others spread out over the year so as not to conflict with a neighboring celebration.
