Best and most reasonable place to rent a car on STT (& o

Post by kdskis2 »

Hi there all,
Was curious as to on island has the best car rental rates and are most easy/reliable to rent from on island. We are looking for a car that would seat 4 adults and hold at least 3 large luggage pieces. Does not have to be an SUV as we have been to the island before and did just fine with a mini van (this was awhile back...as in '02). Also, there used to be a really open air on the water place in Red Hook that sold Caribbean lobster on the cheap...think it was called Off The Hook but cannot find it anymore? Or can you tell us what its called?
Also, how to get to Willie T's and Foxy's? Must we rent a private boat/ charter??
Thanks!
Looking forward to getting back to paradise!

Rented a Liberty from Avis in March without any trouble. Was clean and new and worked well with all the hills for the 8 days that we had it. Don't know about the lobster but I'll be watching to see what other people say :)

Thankyou. Was the rental less than 400 US for the week? We have typically rented for less than that. And I am waiting too.:)[/list]

Off the Hook is no more. Closed about 4 years ago. Is now a restaurant called Fish Tails. The new owners completely gutted and remodeled the place. There is still the open air dining on the marina though.

Alrightee. Thanks for the info. So, now we know...but who has some good cheap lobster on island? And how does one get to Willie T's or Foxy's without chartering a boat to BVI's? Can you ferry from Red Hook? Thx!

You can get to Jost from Red Hook there is a ferry that stops in STJ and heads over from there. As for the Willy T, you'll have to charter a boat to get there. There isn't any ferry's that go to it.
