Frenchtown will fete Father's Day with three days of music, food and drinks this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, continuing a tradition that goes back more than 60 years.

The Committee for the Betterment of Carenage will again host the Carenage community's annual Father's Day celebration, which will get underway Friday, June 14, and run through Sunday, June 16, in Frenchtown at the Joseph Aubain ballpark.

For three nights, live entertainment will be provided in the Father’s Day village, and local foods and drinks will be on sale. There are also activities for the young people and the young at heart.

The opening ceremony will take place 7:30 p.m. Friday with remarks by dignitaries, the crowning of Miss Carenage, Kzsa Maria Hodge, a ribbon cutting to officially open the village and entertainment by DJ Tony Tee of 105 Jamz, Sweeta’ Band and the four-time road march champions Spectrum band. The Sebastian Majorettes will also perform as part of the opening night festivities.

Saturday the V.I. National Guard Calypso band, WEN, will perform beginning at 6:30 p.m. The band’s performance will also feature local and international Calypsonians. Top Notch Band, featuring Dr. Bernard Liburd, will take to the stage at 10:30 p.m. until.

Father’s Day afternoon, the Get Together Scratch Band will entertain, providing the traditional music of the islands beginning at 4 p.m. followed later in the night by Cool Session Brass out of Love City, St. John, to round out the weekend celebration.
At 7 p.m. on Sunday, the committee will present awards to the winners of the annual Mother’s Day and Father’s Day fishing tournaments that were held on May 5 and June 2, respectively. And the Retired Firefighters Association will draw winners for its raffle on Sunday .


If you are visiting this weekend this is a great event and all the bars and restaurants in Frenchtown will be open Fri//Sat for a diversion if you need one.
