Air fare higher in the Summer?

Post by Donnasculpts »

Can anyone explain why airfares actually seem to be so much higher in the middle of the Summer versus Spring or Winter? If I want to travel next week from Florida I can find fares all day long for under $300. Looking in July...$500-700! It's low season. Shouldn't the fares be lower?

I agree 100%! So when I booked our air yesterday with Delta, I ask. Lady told me it's because school is out and it's peak for family travel. So if it makes you feel better, we paid over 950 from TN. Just book it!

Vacation season in US means rip off...just like gasoline prices going up in summer.

I would also check on a regular basis. I have been looking at airfares the last week or so for our upcoming trip in March 2017. On Delta a week ago they were $1,000-$1,100. Last night they were $1,450!!! Today they are back down to $1,180. Crazy!
