Hi everybody. I have narrowed down a few places I'm interested in for Virgin Gorda, but really can't decide! Here are the options:

Guavaberry - I like that it's right on the beach but I've read some reviews that called it slightly run-down.

Casa Luna - a villa run by Guavaberry that looks nice.

This villa, which is not as close to the beach but has a pool and view:

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

For anybody to call Guavaberry “run down” is pretty inaccurate. Their “cottages” may be more accurately described as “dated” and “simple”, but they are impeccably maintained. I will admit that their deck furniture could certainly stand to be upgraded - its not broken down or anything - its that older simple strap style like this:

And the GB cottages are not right on the beach, but certainly a short walk, with the distance of that walk depending on where you are staying on the property that straddles the main road. From the farthest units on the upper side of the property it is about 500 yards or so down to the beach, but you get better long distance views from some of the decks up there, and I think that is where the 2 and 3 bedroom units are. The one bedroom GB units, the office, and the “commissary” are on the side of the property closest to the beach.

Casa Luna may be closest of all to the beach, but, I don’t think you will have any “view” from Casa Luna, as it appears to tucked into the estate properties just adjacent to the lower part of the Guavaberry property closest to the beach.

I assume you know about the other features of what makes GB a pleasure to rent from, namely the well stocked and well priced commissary, the helpful staff, and the outstanding near private beach with the shed full of comfy beach chairs and floaties.

They even have a full size bath and changing room next to the office for late departing guests to shower and change. Not to mention easy walking or snorkeling distance from The Baths, easy walk to Mad Dogs, and the restaurant at the Top of the Baths. You have use of those amenities staying at any of the GB properties, including Casa Luna.

That Windy Hill villa looks cute and seems to have decent long distance views. The location is such that according to this map that you will have to drive to the beach – Spring Bay just north of Guavaberry is closest – probably a 5 minute drive. I assume it is in this vicinity, perhaps noted as the Windy Hill cottage on this map (?)

So if those long distance views shown on their website looks good enough to you, and if a pool is also somewhat important to you, and you prefer more modern furniture and the chefs kitchen for cooking in, that might be the better choice. That off season price is indeed pretty nice for what you are getting.

It really depends what floats your boat the most…and I hope some of this helped…
