Ferry to Jost from STJ

Post by Gromit »

Somewhere I thought I remember reading that you're supposed to reserve a spot on the ferry to Jost in advance...

I'm assuming this is done only by phone or is there a web site?

And for those of you who have reserved in advance -- how far in advance?

Should I just do it when I'm on island? We get in Sunday and plan to heasd to Jost the following Friday...

Thanks in advance!

I've done the ferry to Jost a couple of times and never had to reserve. Just show up, fill out the paperwork and you're off. Unless it's something new, I don't believe a reservation is required. Ali~

We just called the day before. She didn't even take our names but she did stress that we had to be there on time.

We always call ahead the day before to confirm that they are running and let them know that we are coming. It was appreciated, but not required.

We just went saturday and didn't have reservations and it wasn't real crowded either. Had to stop in Tortola first.

Hello again Gromit, I've taken the ferry to Jost on my last three trips and never bothered to call ahead or anything. I think it leaves at 8:30 and you want to have enough time to do the paperwork and stuff. Last year, we cleared customs on Jost for the first time instead of Tortola, that was nice. Maybe I'll see you there.

The ferry to Jost only runs Fri - Sun.

Not sure if they make special arrangements for New Year's or not.
