Seriously, I think this is starting to work! Although.....I think when the Mayor finds me sliding out of my chair because of the suntan oil while chanting "Maho-licious..." I might get a mandatory referral to the Employee Assistance Program. Oh wait, you didn't mean do that at work did you? Ooops.

Thanks guys, I think I'm starting to feel it.

I'm with Lysa - think about the sound of all the froggies at night! Get that CD with the night sounds on it. I got it and it takes me right back to St. John!

Make yourself a smoothie, St. John Style!

Surf the websites of the jewelers on STJ and pick out your next hook bracelet!

We don't have pictures up yet...can you imagine this? Tuesday around 9:15 AM, Pia and doggies sighted; Maho is deserted, just the chickens; turtle heads bobbing, the ray goes by, then the barricuda; sunshine sparkles off zillions of fry; the air is sharp and fresh; sailboats gently roll ahead; the sand is soft under toes; the hushed lapping of the surf...be there!

I agree with the tanning salon idea... you'll start looking tan and be bathing suit ready in time for your trip! Also, try making a list of all the things that you WON'T have to do at work or at home  while you are on island having a blast... just looking at all your normal responsiblities and knowing that soon you will leave all that behind for the rum and relaxation of STJ 8) should make you feel LUCKY to be going!!! ...since I'm not :(

I'll swing for a sweet spot:
>> Buy a new camera gadget/accessory etc.
>> Or, just get an extra 4 gig mem card and put a "V" on it (no pun intended) and learn how to use (its easy) the movie/video function on the Canon and think about how/when you can shoot little 90 second snippets of video, land based and/or snorkel based. Swap the card in and out for the video so it doesn't mix in with your still photography.
>> Get a light weight tripod and a cable shutter release and do some time exposure pix in the evening.
>> learn how to use the “panoramic” function on the Canon (again, easy to take and stitch together with the Canon software) and look for opportunities to take shots like this:

Just imagine the string quartet, and flower petals falling out of the air that will greet you when you get off the ferry...just like paradise.

Thanks everyone, I have actually been feeling the same about our upcoming trip (Dec 3rd-13th). I am going through the motions getting ready but there is little excitement. Maybe its the whole economic situation and feeling guilty spending the $$$. Painkillers at the beach bar yes! Maybe see you there Vicki. Laurie

vicki--i am in the same boat--so much is going on with everything here family/work/money/life --how can we justify this expense (which we had already committed to) in the current situation.....also, just organizing so that we can be away is a huge task --it is hard to get psyched.....
But the one thing that helps me is thinking about the feeling i will have when i arrive on island, get the jeep and drive up the centerline--- all of a sudden my shoulders relax and the jaw unclenches, then i see coral bay....and i can breathe again.
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

and all of the crazy asses you'll be rubbing elbows with:

Just remember what the weather was like in Banff/Lake Louise at the beginning of September, and then imagine yourself there NOW (end of November)!! That should be all that it takes.

I was excited this trip but I was with quite a mellow group........villa gravity they called.

I think this time of yr, so many people have so much going on. With the economy that is not always easy.

Have a painkiller
tan yourself
listen to your IPOD island favorites
and just imagine
that in 2 weeks or less you get to go to White Bay and hang with Ivan.........
