RIP George Steinbrenner, !930-2010
Love or hate the Yankees, you gotta give George a lot of credit for bringing the Yankees back. When he took over the Yanks had been in a losing mode for a very long time. People everywhere love to hate the NY Yankees and it wasn't as much fun hating them when they were losing. In some ways Steinbrenner was the best thing to happen to baseball. Baseball ticket sales were down in many cities. The Yankees started winning and ballparks filled up with both their fans and Yankee haters. Still happens today. Leave it to George to steal some of the headlines on the day of the All-Star game.
Gee, I wonder if George and Billy Martin are together again? Not sure if that would be heaven or hell.
