Mini TR- 8 Tuff Miles

Post by SOonthebeach »

What a great race, again! Thought I would do a little mini TR and post a few pics, since my legs won't move right now- not much to do but look out over Coral Bay and type ;-)

Below are pics of us and our friends- including a few forumites! We had a fantastic time- everyone finished great, and libations and burgers were PERFECT afterward (thank you Skinny's- again!!)

I had to eat some before I got the food porn shot. Skinny's burger of the day and a painkiller- YUM!

Will do a full TR after we get home- off to more sun and fun (and the BB gathering tomorrow)! Hey Kygirl- PM me your email and facebook and I'll send you the pics! Let's get together again this week!

Congrats - great pics -- maybe the new Skinny Legs motto could be "People run 8 Tuff Miles to eat our burgers!"

Very cool. For several years, we arrived the day of the race and always thought about adjusting our schedule to be there for the race. My mom would love to run it.

Thanks for posting. :)
When I think about the cars huffing/puffing up some of the hills I'm impressed with anybody who runs them!

Thanks guys!

Did some hill training- mostly 10% to 15% incline on the treadmill (not too many hills in Dallas)- and on inclines I mostly walked (as I did on most of them during the race  )

My biggest help this year was increasing my distance during training- I think it really helped me run farther distances on the less hilly parts and all downhill- improved my time by 17 minutes! Don't expect to improve that much next year

Peter Alter, the race director, also suggests running stairs. If anyone is thinking to maybe do this race, I say definitely DO- it is fantastic and has such an awesome community feel. Love it!

Headed home Wednesday  TR soon come after that.....
