Post by sherpa »

Heading down to GSB, staying in Casita for a week. Have you been? Any info about cottage, provisions, what (not)to bring, dining, shopping, snorkeling, etc? Would love to get your views and news! Also, any updates on coming over from StT by ferry (on a Tuesday...afternoon)

its been a while since we were in the BVI (16 yrs)...can't wait!

The best BVI ferry schedule information is here:
http://www.bestofbvi.com/info/bviferry_ ... peedys.htm

GSB has a very nice commissary on site with competitive prices on almost anything you would need. For eats, Mine Shaft, Rock Café, Mad Dogs, Top of the Baths, are good, and the weekend buffet/mocko jumbie show at Leverick Bay is fun.

Log in and use the “Search” function near top of this page – use the word “guavaberry” and you will get various trip reports, photos and other details that have been posted here about GSB.

You're in luck with outstanding snorkeling right there at Spring & Trunk Bays. In fact, you'll have to resist Spring Bay Gravity and be sure to hit Savannah and Mahoe.

Also, The Baths are an easy stroll from Casita so you can hit them before the safari buses show up.

Our favorite romantic dinner was at Chez Bamboo which was just a bit on the fancier side (island fancy, not stateside fancy). The Rock was also good for dinner. B-fast at Top o' Baths, sammiches at Mad Dog, bakery & great West Indian grub at LSL, bakery & takeout BBQ chicken at M&M, great casual at Mine Shaft. Haven't been but the Leverick Buffet w/Mocko Jumbies is renouned. GSB's commissary is very well stocked and very well priced.

We came close to renting Casita a few years back and I belive thatyou've really got a winner there. This was after we'd stayed at GSB and were familiar with that immediate area.

You're gonna love it!

Casita/Guavaberry

Post by sherpa »

Well, this is long overdue. However, the memory of a spectacular week on VG as guests in the Casita at Guavaberry Spring Bay remains as the high point of my all too brief summer vacation. No complaints about the Casita: spectacular location, constant breezes, comfortable and lovely furnishings inside and out. Your backyard is the Baths and gorgeous hikes to the most spectacular, deserted beaches. Mad Dog is literally a two minute walk...lovely sandwiches, drinks, porch, and adorable pups coming by to say hello.

The beach at Spring Bay is awesomely beautiful.Tina and her staff couldn't have been more accomodating. The commisary is so much fun...we especially loved the Dove Bars as a bedtime snack. Honor system grocery shopping...who does that?! We felt so welcome and comfortable.

The entire island is a natural paradise. Its people were kind and friendly. Commercialism hasn't taken its toll. Its a real place where people live and are generous enough to share its charm with lucky visitors. Can't wait to return.

Is that the cutest picture, ever, or what?!!?

"Not a care in the world....!!" I'd feel and probably look that "stress-free" if I lived at Guavaberry year-round, too!

Thanks, jmq, for posting the photo. Our time at Guavaberry was only a little over a month, ago - but, it seems WAY too long ago.

Good thing that we have time next year booked already! We were really surprised this year about the really good snorkeling to the right off of the beach.

Truly a special place!!
