Need ZoZo advice
Need ZoZo advice
Hi!
We will be "on island" for the nights of Thursday 4/26, Friday 4/27 and Saturday 4/28.
We want "one special" night. We have done Asolare before - so, looks like it might be time to try ZoZo's.
Please tell us where we should make the reservation for? It seems that the general consensus seems to be upstairs in the bar. Do we ask for a "seat at the bar"? Or are there other rail seatings up there?
Or does anyone have a preference for the dining room?
Also, we, of course, want to catch sunset. Do we ask "them" to tell us what time they would recommend?
Also, is there a better "night" to pick than another? Any special music or entertainment on one of the 3 nights listed?
Thanks to all for any and all advice.
Sue (& Jim)

We have eaten at Zozo's five trips in a row - it's our "must go to" spot each trip. The first times we were downstairs in the dining room, this last time upstairs at the bar.
We loved the main dining area - the view is just not quite as good but beautiful. The view and slightly more casual feeling of the bar was great this last trip.
I think the seat six couples, just ask for a seat at the bar and they will give you advice on sunset time and set you up.
I don't remember music on any of our trips.
If you want to have a romantic conversation with your SO go for the main dining room, - the tables for 2 there are well situated and really nice. If you feel like chatting a little with the bartender or the couple on either side of you then the bar is great.
I think we might go back and forth - trying the dining room next trip etc.
Food is top notch either way.

I have dined in both locations. John and I prefer a table on the rail in the main dining room. The sunset view is better from the bar, but usually we would rather just talk to each other rather than engaging with the other people sitting at the bar.
If you want to sit at the bar you should request it now--it is a popular choice, especially if you want to be there for the sunset. You can email for a reservation to john@zozos.net

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
this was our view from our two-top table one row off the rail downstairs last tuesday. sunset was at 6:30 that night. i walked upstairs to check it out and that was good also but as mentioned above you are at a bar with not as much privacy, depends on your preference i guess. i'd make a reservation now if you want prime time, (you can always change it)
As stated, depends what you are looking for - can't add anything else but this: ENJOY!

This was our view (post sunset) in 2009. We had a 2-top on the rail in the main dining room in June. No reservation, but again, we were past the 'sunset rush'. Had spent the day on White Bay and just thought this would be a great end to a special day.

We just love sitting at the bar at Zozos. It's as private as you want it to be. The bartenders are pretty intuitive about leaving you alone if you want time for just the two of you, and other patrons are only as friendly as you are talkative. The view is spectacular. We've had tables in the dining room at the railing, and it just doesn't quite compare. Also, service is especially attentive at the bar. I highly recommend sitting up top, but whatever you choose, you're in for a fabulous meal! We go to St. John for 10 days every fall and head to Zozo at least three of those nights!

We LOVE Zozo's, and have eaten there twice at sunset time at the bar. Here's something you should know though -- until the sun sets the bar is VERY SUNNY. You will be hot (sweating) and your drink(s) will warm up. If you don't mind that, be sure to bring sunglasses and maybe a hat. Also, you will be chatting with others at the bar.
Have a great meal. Yum.

Thank you, all!
Thank you, everyone!
Reservation has been made. So, we are all set.
Hubby initially thought that we should be in the "dining room" to be able to "bond". I told him that I thought we could have "quiet/bonding time at other restaurants" and this was the time to focus on the view. LOL
So....I convinced him to sit at the bar. I also found out, through some posts on trip advisor, that if you request seats at the "corner" of the bar, they are a bit quieter - plus you get a more direct "view" that doesn't always have the bartender in it.
We were lucky enough that there was ONE night of our 3 night options in which the corner seats were still available.
I will be sure to let you all know, upon our return, how we made out (with photos, of course).
Thank you for all the suggestions. Have been to the island quite a few times and this will be our FIRST Zozo's experience. So much fun anticipating trying something new.
Thanks, again.
