Digital Trip Report

Post by coldfront »

Hi, this was really quick on an old laptop, not happy I did not use many of my snorkeling videos, but here you go!

Does anyone know the people getting off of the plane with me at the start of the video? It was a group of 6 or 8, they were from Atlanta. I was just curious because they were so fun to sit with and the dude raising his arms in the start of the video made a PERFECT landing scene for the USVI! We landed in St Thomas on 2/22 I think, you people were HILARIOUS! HOPE YOU HAD FUN!

Loved it. Makes me miss STJ in a big way.
1 question..Are jet skis allowed around STJ? I was thinking no. Maybe around STT?

Thanks for the video! It was fun to watch. I am not familiar with this camera, and have a question: did you film in a fisheye setting, or is that the standard setting for the camera? The round effect was neat.

Stjchica, you can rent jetskis at the Westin. When we have stayed on Maria Bluff we would often see people riding them out of Great Cruz Bay into the open water. I think that is the only place you can ride them, the skiiers never traveled too far from the resort.

People also bring them over from STT. An island resident told us that he is seeing this more and more. From what I understood from our discussion, renters aren't suppose to do so (per the rental agreement) but few get caught. He said he sees them beach at Cruz Bay.

Thanks for sharing! I feel just like that guy, as we disembark!

I can't imagine coming to STJ from STT on a ski-doo!

That's exactly what this guys said! Considering how chopping that channel can be AND after a day of drinking at Wharfside Village. He said it is an accident waiting to happen.

Hello,

The jet ski part was actually at Sapphire Beach on STT. And liamsaunt, I am still learning the GoPro, but all the settings seem to have at least some sort of fisheye lens. One is pretty extreme and then the one I had was the regular/standard view and it still gave off a little fisheye. I know there are different fields of visions and I can't even remember what setting I had mine on. The camera is so versatile though. I will have to put up some more of the snorkeling because I have a mount that is a pole that only weighs about 5 or 8 ounces I think and it stretches from 17 inches to 42 inches. It is made by GoPole. I got some pretty close shots of things when I had it stretched out :) And I also used the headstrap mount and then just a standard small pole you hold in your hand to keep it steady.

I can't see anything, I'm on an iPad, so I guess it doesn't support your video program? Bummer...
