Just got back a week ago today Hubby tried the "Big G" at Joe's and wasn't too impressed. The fries however were very good. The burger at Skinny's was great, so great that we went back again The burger was cooked perfectly and the Deli Grotto roll it comes on was a perfect pairing. Also, Skinny's had THE BEST Banana Painkiller's! So good in fact that I had four of them (in two trips of course ) We drove by Driftwood Dave's several times but didn't stop; wish we would have. I guess that just means we have to go back!

I had the special burger when I went with the Burger War King. It was a burger with cheese and grilled pineapple with teriyaki sauce. I opted out of the grilled I ions but it was spectacular !! And that mango drink was oh so yummy!!! Can we do dessert wars next? I'll drive!!!

OK - my last posting on this thread.

Tonight Joe's Rum Hut was scheduled to tackle Driftwood Dave's for the very unofficial STJ Burger Championship. Unfortunately for JRH they were unable to compete due to a last minute disqualification by the tournament official (my wife). So, standing in at the director's request was The Beach Burger at The Beach Bar.

Initially I thought TBB was punching way above their weight when taking on DD's, but to my surprise they beefed up their game and came out swinging!

Pros:
1) Like Skinny Legs I was asked how I'd like my burger cooked. This time I chose medium since the tournament director was hungry too!
2) Valley Doll Hot Sauce was available
3) Rum Runner chasers are always a positive!
4) The bay breeze was feeling good!

Cons:
1) Limited additions (no jalapeños)
2) too many rum runners could cloud one's judgment!

Results: A surprisingly good showing from TBB. Really good taste, cooked to order, and the bleu cheese was a good compliment. BUT, in the end TBB will have to settle for the silver medal in this week long search for STJ's best burger.

Medal Awards
Gold - Driftwood David's
Silver - The Beach Bar
Bronze - Skinny Legs

We will see if DD's can hold on to the title next summer when rematches and new competitors take the challenge!

Yes I did make it back to the office on Monday although it wasn't a very productive day - most of it spent looking at pics! And it's nowhere near warm enough here in MN!! I'm still on island weather!!

Trust me - I loved the burger competition!! We're looking forward to the 2014 season - will maybe include pics and think of ways to make it even more fun!

As far as SL's mango rum special, that was so good it could have kept us there for the rest of the day if we hadn't shown restraint and stopped after just a few. Good stuff - be sure to give it a shot on your next visit!!!
