This sounds heavenly - must send an email to the villa owner and verify there is a blender on hand.BillVT wrote:We had this served to us at the old Panini Beach restaurant. They called it a Caribbean Martini:
1 part Cruzan Coconut rum
1 part Cruzan Pineapple rum
1 part Cruzan Banana rum
Ice, blend and serve with wedge of lime.
I must admit to never having had a villa gravity day. I am too much of a beach person, just can't stay away. Last April Sherry and I left behind the rest of the group so they could have one, and headed off to Jumbie by ourselves - it was lovely We do, however, enjoy a cocktail or 2 or 3 on the deck after a long day at the beach.

Rum punch! Bacardi 151, dark rum, coconut rum, oj, pineapple juice, lime juice and grenadine with freshly grated nutmeg on top! Similar to a painkiller but without the Coco Lopez. Lots of vitamin C!
Re: What’s your favorite villa gravity day island drink
I do it myself. On St. John I just stick all the ingredients except the ice and sparkling water in a blender and grind them all up. I use a whole lime, not just the juice. If there is a strainer in the villa, I strain it. If not, I just leave all the bits in the drink. Top off with sparkling water (well, you don't have to, but I don't like super strong cocktails so I do).Agent99 wrote:Tequila infused with jalapeno and cilantro- had me thinking that would make a the basis for a great chicken marinade- maybe with a little Cruz Bay Grill rub. Hmmm...
Do you infuse it yourself or can you buy it that way?
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Sorry to hijack the drink thread- I'll stop after this post- promise.
I'll try it this week-end since we'll all be snowed in anyway. That never stops us from grilling. Please critique this idea and tell me if you think it will work.
I'll put the cilantro and jalapeño infused tequila, a macerated lime- the whole thing, a dose of Cruz Bay Grill Rub and marinate some split chicken breasts overnight. Then grill the chix and enjoy it with the spicy margs. Do you think that sounds like it will all work together? Quick question- will the acid of the lime make 24 hours too long of a marinating time? Should I add that the next morning?
I'll call it Cruz Bay Chicken and post a pic on the food porn thread.

Re: What’s your favorite villa gravity day island drink
Two years ago a couple who claimed they didn't like rum joined us for a week on STJ - one sip of coke and coconut rum and they suddenly thought rum was the best drink ever The small bottle we bought for ourselves was gone the first day - they'll be joining us again this year and we'll be buying a BIG bottle this year. Easy to mix, take to the beach, sip by the pool - for us, it's all about KISS.
Re: What’s your favorite villa gravity day island drink
I definitely think that would work! I would add some salt to the marinade, and leaving it overnight would be fine. To really amp it up, make a mango, jalapeño, cilantro salsa to go with it!Agent99 wrote:Sorry to hijack the drink thread- I'll stop after this post- promise.

shoemak38, that first one sounds perfect for the freezing winter weather here. I wonder if there's anywhere around here I can find the Cruzan Velvet? Thats my project for this week now.
Re: What’s your favorite villa gravity day island drink
I had a whole concoction that I would mix up, but now I keep it super simple..Pineapple juice and coconut Cruzan...
