Honeymoon/Solomon Access in October?

Post by chrisn »

First time going in October (always a June-er)...can someone please clarify Caneel beach access? No access through resort? By hike or dinghy only?

chrism: No problem with access. There will be someone in the security kiosk, and you simply mention that you will be going to Honeymoon. Caneel proper will be closed, so follow the signs, and proceed directly to and from Honeymoon. My memory is that the facilities at Honeymoon remained open as well. We love it in September and October; the ocean is nice and warm, it is much less crowded, and despite some restaurants being closed, there are still plenty of dining options.

All the best,

We were there in September 2015 however we hiked in on the Lind Point Trail. The main gift shop shack was open but the concessions/drink stand was not. You will be able to rent chairs and watersports equipment. Watch for specials on-line. With a promotional we were able to "rent" everything for $0.

Do you have to pay to use Honeymoon Beach during October as you do in other months?

The only costs to use Honeymoon Beach are if you drive and park at Caneel ($20; refundable if you spend $20 on anything at the beach or resort), or if you rent or consume something at Honeymoon. I am reasonably sure that the $20 fee is waived when the resort is closed, since there would be no front desk open to get your purchase validated.

All the best,

Kevin
