Seawing Villa?
We've booked our next trip to our (that includes all of you) precious little island and will be staying at Seawing in Coral Bay. It seems absolutely perfect for us (just Hubby & I) - has anyone stayed there?
Re: Seawing Villa?
I haven't, but it looks glorious!
Close to Shipwreck and Aqua Bistro- awesome!
Can't wait to try the Sunday bbq at Hansen next time we're down.
Have fun!

Yes it sure does look glorious, thank you Mahojim! I see you're going TODAY!! Have great time!!!
Re: Seawing Villa?
Stayed there about 8 years ago with my wife. We love Coral Bay so the location was perfect as were the views. House was kept up well and was clean. Nothing too fancy but it worked out well for us and we really enjoyed it. I recall the driveway being VERY steep (but paved) but would still recommend a 4wd vehicle especially if it ever gets wet.

Thanks lbrlwyr!
Yes, we LOVE the Coral Bay side too!! We're fine with it not being fancy - we just need it to be clean & very well maintained, open & airy with fantastic views- all of which, according to the reviews on VRBO, say it is. And yes, I've also read it has quite a steep driveway- no worries, we'll have a jeep.

Re: Seawing Villa?
My husband and I stayed at Seawing last year. The property has a nice cottage feel to it. We have stayed at larger houses over the years - and although we enjoyed them all (some more than the others), we generally feel more comfortable with a cottage type property. It's just the two of us and we don't need a lot of space that most likely ends up unused. Seawing was sweet and perfect - really ideal for a couple (although there is another bedroom with access from outside downstairs). As you might know, it's not fancy but clean, airy and charming. It's located at the end of the road and the area is quiet. The house faces the East so you get beautiful sunrises, bright mornings and mellow twilight. I would imagine that the outside shower and the hot tub are treats to some or many folks. I'm not into outside showers personally but enjoyed the hot tub. It was one of the cleanest hot tubs that we've ever had in villas. The property is well maintained and I believe you will be in good hands with the property manager.
I took some photos of the property when we stayed there in May/June, 2016. I have posted the link here before so you might have seen them - but in case you haven't:

Re: Seawing Villa?
Oh Pickle - I did see your beautiful photos of Seawing (and many other places)!! I'd done a search for it - looking for all information I could find - and found your site!!
All of our trips to STJ (and every place else) had always been with our son who is now on his own - so our last trip to STJ in 2016 was just the 2 of us. I agree with you about the space - we don't need more than that- and have had fairly small villas with our son and it was perfectly fine for us. Our main requirements are fabulous views and a well maintained property. Light, open & airy is important as well, and Seawing seems to fit all of those things!

Re: Seawing Villa?
Seawing is the very first villa my husband and I rented on our first trip to STJ now more than 25 years ago. It has a very special place in our hearts because that's where we fell in love with STJ. We returned the following year and then sent our daughter and son-in-law there for their honeymoon. The villa looks exactly the same now as it did then but it now has A/C and all the windows have been replaced. We love this villa and hope you do too.

Re: Seawing Villa?
Seawing is my favorite villa on St. John. The only reason that I stay anywhere else is that while Seawing is the perfect romantic getaway for a couple, it can only accommodate a limited number of adults.
I love the current owners and what they have done with the place. Air conditioning is a must, but even with air conditioning you'll be hard pressed to sleep in at Seawing. When the sun rises in the East and shines through the front windows Seawing wakes up and it's impossible to sleep.
Seawing is private and romantic. You can pretty much do whatever you want on the front deck and nobody will notice. The hot tub is secluded with a partial view of Coral Bay. Finally, the outdoor shower is just fun after a day at the beach.
I can't think of a negative thing about Seawing. Go there if you can.

Re: Seawing Villa?
Thank you John!
We did book it for next April!
Waking up early is never a problem for us - we're up most mornings around 4 am - sleeping in for us is 6 am . As for the outdoor shower, we had one at our last villa in STJ (2016) - initially I didn't love it, but by the 2nd day, I LOVED it!!!
