All the places you asked about were destroyed, but the people survived. Steve and Leslie with Patches evacuated after the storm with Pia and Les. We met up with them in MD with Randy and Marcia from Reef Madness and they were shaken and stirred. Ruth just checked in on Facebook. Kirk is busy working on island. There are more, people are okay but the infrastructure was destroyed.

Rick, thanks for that info. I've been thinking of Ruth and glad to hear she checked in. Do you know how her home fared? I well remember her updates on their construction. Would hate to hear after all that work her home was badly damaged.

Is the Facebook page you mention a public face book page that I can see? Not much of a facebooker.

I saw on Concordia's website they are closed through 2018, the pictures I saw looked like all that was left were foundations. Indigo Grill has been serving free meals to everyone daily & Skinny's had damage but are working to rebuild they're FB page says they'll be back. I didn't know about Aqua Bistro but knew about Crabby's & Shipwreck. They say Dolphin Market was open as is Calabash. I saw a video of people having a little happy hour gathering outside Calabash playing music & singing but have to say they all looked exhausted, I'm sure it was the end of a long hard day.

Here's a link to Ruth's facebook page. Its a private page and you'll need to friend her to see it: https://www.facebook.com/ruth.ernst.37

Here is what Ruth said yesterday, September 30:

"I just logged on to wifi for the first time since September 6th.
I don't have time to read and reply to all your messages, but we are well and we have everything we need.
Recovery is slow, but we hope the next few weeks will bring progress. Still I power, phone service is spotty but improving. Texting works best but messages can take 12-48 hours to send and receive.
The lack of communication is the worst of all. No local, US. or world news. No internet, no Facebook.
I am seeing your messages from the past 24 days and sending lots of love back at you.
Will reply more when I can."

Cheers, RickG

Thank you so much for the information, Rick.
Like so many others, my heart is broken.

I just wish I had the means to help.

We each do what we can. $10 to St. John Rescue or St. John Community Foundation makes a difference.

I've been wearing my bracelet with STJ GPS coordinates nearly daily since Irma hit (the bottom one in the picture.) It's the spot where the Ram Head trail ends - special place for my family and a big part of my heart is there.

Hi everyone!

Progress back home is slow but steady. We have taken the opportunity to visit with family and friends during this time of exile. I will be going back for a week long visit at the end of the month to see what further damage Maria brought to us after we evacuated, and to see if it's possible to salvage a few more things from our home.

When we have a place to live, and can be a help and not just a drain on precious resources we will return full time.

In the mean time, Leslie, Patches, and myself will try and establish some normalcy, and send what help we can to our neighbors who remain (or have returned) to the island.

We feel and appreciate all of the concern, thought, and prayers for our safety and well being. Thanks to all of you!
Come see us!
