gobucs, looks like Ivan's Campground is rebuilding their cabins. I'd love to do that again some time.

Staying at Mandavilla for the first time in our late June/early July visit. Anyone stay there before?

Looks great from the reviews, etc. - very excited to go back.

If anyone is around that time period, my wife and I are looking to book an Island Roots charter and would welcome a split. Some time between June 30th and July 3rd.

We booked Tracy in WI's Grande Bay 2-bedroom for Halloween week. We arrive earlier and will probably stay on St. Thomas for three nights; might even try to get to Jost for Foxy's Cat Fight!

RickG,
We could only find a place at Whitebay villas, as there were no other options at the time we booked
I personally like staying in Great Harbor so we can just walk back to our hotel after a night at foxys
This time we are closer to Whitebay just up the hill from Ivans :D

We are in the planning stages. We were married 15 years ago during the great Novemer rain, decided there is no place we would rather be! Now trying to decide do we risk November again or go early December. Even with a week of rain, the island took my breath away!

Rebubula, we were there the week before the big rain - it started the day we left. We go every year in November, either Halloween week or Thanksgiving. Your wedding week was the wettest week we have seen in November.

I love October and November visits. The island is less crowded and the water is warm. Sure, it can rain. But, if you check the webcams or raday you can usually find a dry spot!

We are back again this year for Halloween week.

Cheers, RickG

Rebubula, we used to go in mid-Nov. (2008-2010), with 2010 being the absolute wettest for us, so because of that we switched to early December (1st or 2nd week) the past 4-5 trips (2011-2015), which worked out better for us weather-wise. Plus, we still enjoyed the fall shoulder season rates before they jump up in later Dec. to high season rates. And by that time, all restaurants are open, and not yet too crowded. Enjoy!

Thanks RickG and Ed for some additional perspective. After the wedding/honeymoon we always returned in April-June timeframe.
It was quite a week, we moved our wedding date from 12th to 13th and even had to redo our pictures that following June as it was so wet there wasnt a chance of getting outside! But here we are, weathered the storm.
Looking forward to a trip later in the year.

Had tickets for June of last year back for my 11th trip to St John and Jost. Stayed longer in Europe and missed the trip. When the hurricanes came I bawled like a baby. Could not believe I missed the islands just prior to such a nightmare. That said, I am coming back June 13th and bringing a newbie. Unsure of the island conditions, we have decided to stay at Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel. I usually rent a villa like Snails Pace or Crows Nest, but it might be better to stay primarily in town. Trying to prepare myself for the changes. Did an internship a few years back at Concordia and it was honestly life changing. My divorce became final while I was there and it was on Maho that I tossed my wedding band and started a new life.
If anyone wants to meet up, will be at the hotel 13-17. We could split a ride or something!
Cheers!!

Coming back July 2-12 (7th time in 17 years, so we are loyal but not regular). I stopped posting in these forums when my first grandbaby was born in 2014 and we shifted our travel habits to visiting the west coast to see the little chickadee. But this year my daughter convinced me that we should ALL go back to the island, doing our duty to bring in those tourist dollars. Usually it's just me and my husband, but daughter and SIL joined us once in 2013 and loved it. Now the grandbaby is 3 and old enough to have island dreams of her own (huge Moana fan, so she knows all about it  ). We're also bringing my adult son, who isn't sure he likes the beach but is willing to try (what a sport!). We'll be staying at San Costanzo in Fish Bay.
