San Juan Airport

Post by nola girl »

Can anyone tell me what restaurants are in the San Juan Airport. My family and I will have a 2 hour layover there before we take a connecting flight to St.Thomas. Two of my kids will eat anything, yet the other gives picky a whole new meaning. Our flight will arrive in San Juan at 6:40pm. Thanks

I had a 2 hr layover in San Juan and found a really nice wifi cafe to settle down in. They had delicious homemade soups, crepes, sandwiches and the usual sodas etc. The terminal is vee shaped and this cafe was to the right as I exited the plane area. There are not many choices for food other than this, I didn't see a McDonalds etc.

I ate in a restaurant there that had sandwiches, fries, chicken fingers etc. (Not to mention a bar.) Good enough menu for any picky eater. But the airport is bigger than I thought and that one was far from my gate. I had 3 hours to kill plus a delay so I had time but I guess it depends on where your gate is. Dont know if the gates are usually in the same area but the flight was AA

There's a cafe between the gates for the big airplanes and the American Airlines gates for puddle jumpers. There is also a food court type area.

Thanks for the responses regarding this post. Those options sound great. I was unsure as to weither I should try to get the kids to hold off til we arrived in St.Thomas, but in all honesty I don't think they could wait that long. I think that 2 hours should be enough time to get something to eat and sit down for a few minutes before dragging the crew to board another plane!

Just remember...."island time"...service is slow, give youself enough time for those kiddies!

Nothing in STT airport to talk about either. The coffee shop once you pass security going home is ok, I love their chocolate cake, but the one in the luggage area is not all that...

In addition to the above mentioned, I remember seeing a Domino's Pizza...

Second the Dominos pizza. Thats what we had and it was fairly quick for a personal pizza.

The $8 or $10 coronas at that cafe were a bit much though. Make sure and check the prices before you order!

Domino's is even better - they all like pizza! I know that by the time we get to San Juan they will all be cranky & irritable. We are flying out of New Orleans at 8am and have the itinerary from hell! If I know what the options are and just tell them what they are going to eat instead of trying to get 3 kids to agree on eating the same thing I know that will make things easier on me & hopefully I can avoid a melt down from one or all of them!
