CSA Insurance Experience

Post by budman »

Hey everybody,

First of all, as soon as I get a spare minute I plan on writing a trip report detailing our two week stay in July. We stayed at Chateaux Margot our first week with 12 of us, then after kicking our good friends off of the island my brother and 3 others joined us at Villa Sanctuary for the second week. As you could expect, both weeks were night and day! We had an awesome "skeeter free" trip and both villas were perfect for us. More about that later.

I had to jump on here to report our experience with CSA travel insurance. I had a small incident with our vehicle from St John Car Rental, my first mishap in 27 years of vacationing there  . I backed into a cut down tree in the back parking area of Cinnamon Bay one afternoon and dented the hatch and blew out the back window, I mean glass every where  . The tree was hidden behind some foliage, oh well no excuses...sh!t happens. I reported the damage to St John Car Rental and they said to bring the vehicle straight in. They were extremely, I mean extremely nice about the whole thing and gave me another vehicle immediately. They prepared the estimate and filled out a report for my insurance. I called my primary insurance first and got a claim started, then I called the credit card company which would only cover costs over and above what my primary would cover. A little bumbed I told my wife what was up and she said give CSA Travel a call, what could it hurt?. I didn't think about CSA  The nice lady from CSA said "yes, we'll be your primary for that damage, just send us the info". Well, on our last day I got the paperwork from St John Car Rental, including photo, and flew home. As understood, St John Car Rental charged my credit card for the repairs. The day after we returned I found an email from CSA advising me what to do. I sent the claim to them the next day and guess what? three weeks later I received my check for the damages! WAY TO GO CSA!!!!!!

Folks, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CSA TRAVEL INSURANCE!!!!! We just started using them 3 years ago, before that NO insurance. Our purpose for buying insurance was not primarily for hurricanes, but for family emergencies. I'm only 45, but I worry that a family emergency may occur during a vacation. Thanks to my wifes suggestion, I now know that they cover auto accidents

I just wanted to spread the good news, now I have to get back to the Redskins game!!

Take care,
Budman

We've purchased CSA insurance our last three trips. Thankfully, we haven't had to file a claim. But, it's sure good to know they get the job done. Looking forward to your TR, too.

that's an excellent report and I'm glad to hear it. I plan to use them when we are ready to purchase insurance. reviewing their site I did notice they covered the rental car so that was a plus for me!

That's really good news! I've never purchased travel insurance before. My next trip will be with a group (my family) and I was considering buying the insurance. They are a group of "if it can go wrong, it probably will go wrong" types. Thanks for the testimony, I'm sold for sure now!

We've bought CSA insurance the last few trips and thankfully never had to use them. However, on our most recent trip, Spirit Air lost one of our bags and we we didn't get it until the third day of our trip. We had to buy several items to replace those that were in the lost bag, but our insurance covered lost or delayed baggage. So I filed a claim for the 200 bucks worth of stuff, and got the check in less than two weeks! Great service! And even if you never actually have to file a claim, the peace of mind is so worth the small cost.

Interesting thought, depending on the cost of your trip that is covered, it might be cheaper to buy the CSA insurance than get the CDW from the car rental company.

I use my personal car insurance from State Farm as my primary insurance and bring my insurance policy with me to keep in the rental car. But, rumor has it that if you use your primary policy they will hit you with a steep enough increase to hurt.

That's AWESOME! Also kudos to ST. John car rental for handling it so nicely. That has always been my experience with them.

We're traveling with the in laws this December and decided for the first time to get Trip Insurance from CSA. THis akes me feel eben better about that now.

I may consider going with them from now on.

Thanks so much for sharing. We always use CSA, but have never had to use them. Like you, we are young, 31 and 34 and in good health, but working as part of a trauma team, I see that accidents happen to everyone and I want to make sure we are covered. I'm glad to hear CSA came through for you!
