Ha ha...the ice curls are the letter G. Yes, I have G-shaped ice cubes. It's a long running joke between me and John. Our nickname for each other is G, which stands for goober. We called each other goober when we were dating. Totally corny, I know.

Share the champagne recipe? I'm having a bunch of people over for dinner tonight, and that sounds like a cool cocktail.

oh that's funny! I have a friend that I used to work with - we call each other G as in girlfriend. I don't talk to her much these days but every email or phone call i get from her starts with "G". funny.

Champagne Margarita
Makes 8 6-ounce drinks
Recipe from Season 6 of Mexico—One Plate at a Time
________________________________________
INGREDIENTS
The finely grated zest (colored rind only) from 1 lime
1 cup fresh lime juice
1 cup Cointreau
1 cup silver tequila (I like El Tesoro and Partida)
Superfine sugar, if needed for added sweetness
1 lime, cut in half, for serving
Coarse (Kosher) salt, for serving
1 bottle Champagne or other sparkling wine
________________________________________
DIRECTIONS
In a pitcher, combine the lime zest, lime juice, Cointreau, tequila and sugar if you are using it. Cover and refrigerate until cold, at least 1 hour). Just before serving, strain the mixture to remove the zest, and pour enough salt into a saucer to cover the bottom. Rub a lime half over the rim of each champagne glass and upend into the salt to crust it lightly. Pour about 3 ounces of the tequila mixture into each glass, fill the rest of the way with Champagne or sparkling wine and hand to one of your lucky guests.

I don't have a picture but I found a recipe on webtender about a week ago that uses Limoncello. It's called an Italian Sunrise
1.25 oz Vodka
1/4 oz Limoncello
3/4 oz Orange juice
3/4 oz Sour mix
Shake or stir with ice, strain and put in glass.
I poured a bit a grenadine down the glass to make it look pretty. The recipe said to use Campari which I don't have.

It tastes like Tang :D

I tried limoncello for the first time in April. The Italian liquor peddler on our cruise poured me two shots at half price. It's delicious and I've been intending to buy a bottle. I can see how it could be dangerous. Maybe that's the reason I haven't bought any.

It's so good, I don't think I'd mix it with anything. Straight up worked just fine. The folks at our table said it's easy to make. Mix the ingredients, let it set for a month, and it's ready to gulp...er I mean enjoy.

MB, too bad we don't live close to each other. I predict we could become fast friends. :D
