For Gromit - A bacon topic!

Post by California Girl »

I took this quote from another thread...
Gromit wrote:Mr. Gromit is a lover of all things bacon.

He recently purchased bacon-salt...yes. That's right. Bacon Salt. He was lookng for Baconnaise (yes... you also heard me right... bacon flavored mayonaise).. but only came across the bacon flavored salt. So we own some. I'm thinking it will be good on turkey sandwiches and popcorn.
... because today I went to the fair and look what I found at one of the food booths! I didn't try it, but I immediately thought of Mr. Gromit, so I had to take this picture for him!

You find the weirdest foods at the fair!

All fat rules. Know why? 'Cause it tastes good.

Over and out from the fat capital of the world, Wisconsin.

Great photo CG---this would be a huge hit at the Iowa State Fair.

Must say, I think its worth a try----two of my favorite foods in one bite, and on a stick!

Maybe it's dipped in healthy dark chocolate...

Agreed. And speaking of Wisconsin, I saw this sign when I was in Madison a few weeks ago:

I liked it. As well as Madison.

OOoooh, How could you have passed that up!?

I would have tried it. Any food dipped in chocolate started out with good intentions at least.

Speaking of sweet bacon. My godmother makes a bacon with cracked pepper and brown sugar and some other stuff (I suspect crack cocaine) that is simply AMAZING and I don't LOVE bacon. At least not like a man loves bacon!

Lay bacon out on parchment paper on a baking sheet (with sides, duh, don't ask about that) and generously coat with fresh cracked pepper and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
I am telling you, it puts you into a trance it is so good.

That chocolate-dipped bacon would be good at a Fondue Party.
I wish I still had a fondue pot.
Maybe somehow you could wrap a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup in bacon and then dip the whole thing in the chocolate. Or layer it, like a SomeMore, then dip it.
That could work.

One of my favorite tapas is dates wrapped in bacon. That combination of sweet and salty, mmmmm.

Chicago area folks, you can get these at Emilio's and at Cafe Ba Ba Reeba. Yum. (Of course you can make them yourself pretty easily too.)
