On their Facebook page they said that they were paying $6,600 a month in rent for their little shack. That's crazy. As they put it, "that's a lot of tacos."

I sure hope they can find another location.

One more thing, the people at Paradise Cafe will be operating it in the mean time as the "Surly Cantina" but it is NOT them. Just their name. No idea what the food will be like.

THey have to be able to do something at least about the name--I cannot beleive that their landlord would take over and use their good name--it's akin to robbery--

I suggest a boycott of surly cantina until things get straightened out (unless the REAL owners are there--then of course partake!)

I too am a fan of the REAL 'Surly Cantina'. What I haven't heard from anyone is whether they legally protected the name. I sure hope so, but if not, do they have any legal ( not moral) recourse? Pete?

I don't know how it works in the USVI, but here if they incorporated or registered as a dba they would have prior use rights to the name.

I'm all in favor of a "boycott" of sorts at the new "Surly Cantina."

The owners of the REAL Surly Cantina are good folks, just trying to make a decent living. Let's help them find a new location and get back on their feet.
