Jost ferry dock to White Bay

Post by kristen1206 »

If we decide to take a ferry to Jost Van Dyke for the day, how do we get from the ferry Dock to White Bay? Cab? How much is that approximately and are they easy to come by?

I think the cab is $5 per person each way if memory serves me correctly. They will be waiting for the ferry. It's easy.

That's correct. It's basically $5 per person per trip no matter where you go.

You can arrange for the driver to pick you up later that afternoon from a specific location and they will get you back to the ferry on time.

Taking the ferry gives you approximately 5 1/2 hours on Jost.

thanks, and I assume you catch the ferry from Cruz bay and just park in a lot or on the street?

Park anywhere you legally can in Cruz bay (Mongoose Jnctn is a no no).

The ferry does not leave from the same ferry dock you arrive on (What I mean is, if you take the people ferry over to STJ from STT you will arrive at the main ferry dock in front of STJ spice the Beach Bar etc).

The BVI ferries leave from the dock that's located almost across from Morgans Mango. It's a large fenced in area with trailer that serves as the office.

Thanks for the scoop! Going to do the ferry on this next trip and haven't done it before... (only on smaller boats).

We did the inter-island ferry from CB to Jost in June. We chose the early am ferry and found a parking spot in CB in the public lot directly across from the ferry terminal, next to Denzil Clyne's car rental. Who, by the way, was VERY helpful getting us backed out of said spot when we returned. It seems folks park very close to one another in CB. Once you arrive at the ferry dock on Jost, and go thru Customs (very painless and quick, take your passport), we were directed to the next available taxi (safari bus). We happened to use Bun's, who took us to White Bay. He never told us how much the fare was or asked where we wanted to go, we just gave him $5 per person. He asked when to come back to pick us up to return, and he was there exactly at said time. Couldn't ask for better service or a more pleasant ride. We had him drop us at Foxy's (another $5 PP plus a tip), and we walked back to the ferry dock after a few drinks to catch the ferry back to STJ. We thought the folks on Jost were the nicest we've met in a long time, and would love to spend more time on this quiet island.

We always go to Cruz Bay a little early and we have always found a parking space in the public lot right next to the ferry. The bonus is that the extra time to kill gives you and excuse to walk over to Deli Grotto for breakfast. Yum!

What Vicki said :)

We always use Oliver's taxi when we get to White Bay. He is great. Five bucks, and he picks you up and gets you back to the ferry in time. He has a red ford pick-up truck and a big smile. Not the fanciest taxi, but we love him.
