More rain!
More rain!
We're sitting here in our room at Caneel Bay Wednesday morning and it's been raining hard for 2 hours now. Another flash flood warning until 11:45 a.m. and we take that seriously. Sunday mornig I awoke at 2:30 a.m. to discover 3 inches of rain in our room, quickly rising. We had to pack up QUICKLY and be evacuated to a room upstairs. Nothing like waking up the two year old and having to move him. He thought it was morning and was then up for 3 hours until falling back asleep. So today we're packing up a backpack and headed to breakfast with the idea that we might not be able to get back to our room afterward if the water rises again. GO AWAY RAIN!
If you don't take risks, you'll have a wasted soul.
Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like much improvement in the next couple days:
-----------------------
NWS Tropical Prediction Center National Hurricane Center, Miami, FL 700 am est wed nov 10 2010
For the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:
1. Disorganized cloudiness and thunderstorms over portions of puerto rico, the Virgin Islands, the northern Leeward Islands and adjacent waters are associated with a surface trough of low pressure. Upper-level winds are forecast to become unfavorable for development and there is a low chance, 10 percent, of this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours. Regardless of development, locally heavy rainfall is expected to continue over portions of the northern Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico during the next couple of days as the system moves northward at about 10 mph.
Elsewhere, tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.

I am so sorry to hear this Tina!
We were there last month during TS Otto and couldn't do all the things we wanted to but enjoyed our time together. Hope the sun peaks out before you have to leave.

Re: More rain!
Sending drying thoughts your way. I am definately not one of those happy "better a rainy day on vacation then a sunny day at work" souls so I would have a hard time handling it.Tina wrote:We're sitting here in our room at Caneel Bay Wednesday morning and it's been raining hard for 2 hours now. We feel your pain. All 7 of us are gathered around the TV watching old shows, trying to figure out what to do in the rain today. We've already shopped in Cruz Bay,twice, went out to eat a few times, and played poker during the rainy spells of the last few days. We're running out of ideas. We did get in a 2 hr. trip to one of the few beaches with sand (Lameshur)yesterday during the time that the sun was out but then a squall moved in from the south. The high surf and wave action left most northshore beaches non starters on Mon. and Tues. I brought the movie "Castaway" but all those sunny beach scenes might be frustrating. Ah well, maybe a miracle will happen and the sun will peek out later on today.
The sun is out !
The sun is out ! Finally !
