shoemak38, your games are always fun, so I will play, but I warn you, my Maine experience was long ago and was only once. I hope to improve my skills via new experiences there someday.
Have fun planning your Maine holiday!

I'll play along but since Maine is where I call home, it's hard to think of it as a vacation destination!!
One of our favorite "touristy" things to do in the summer is a cruise on Casco Bay Lines....

Well, you HAVE to stop at Bob's Clam Hut on the way into or out of Maine on US 1 in Kittery (well, at least WE have to, and we rarely eat fried food)

And, Barnacle Billy's in Ogunquit. Yes its kinda touristy, but it's pretty tough to beat the lovely garden and cove views from their decks, the tasty lobster, and yes, one of the better rum punches you will ever have (go figure)

Only one place I will be on July 4th, sitting on Washington Ave. in Eastport watching the biggest parade in "the great state of Maine." It's out of the way but Eastport's 4th of July festival running from July 1-5 is a real treat. This NY'er is making her 10th visit this year and I can't wait.

Second the Barnacle Billy's reference.......we'll be there come July.....we don't live in Maine anymore but we'll be visiting this Summer. Another wonderful thing to do in Ogunquit is walk Marginal Way. It's spectacular and it's different every time you walk it.
We'll also be having some wonderful dinners at 98 Provence Bistro. It's located on Shore Rd. in Ogunquit. I would encourage you to make a reservation for dinner here (or they also do an awesome breakfast). It will probably be one of the most memorable dinners you've every had.

Going to Bob's clam hut is my payment for taking the "Girls" shopping at the outlets (it's a hour drive from our house)
also like warren's (it's a throw back from the 50's-60's with a salad bar)

LOL Shoe, actually closer to 10 hours... If I'm driving but a looong drive nonetheless. Dear friends are Eastport natives and go back every year. About 10 years ago a group of friends decided to make it an annual thing. We rent the same circa 1850 Victorian with 7 bedrooms for our annual reunion.
in kennebunkport love to eat here

We love Maine and hope to head that way sometime in August to visit our relatives and vacation too. I love the Marginal Way and we have great memories of our kids climbing on the rocks at Nubble Light house. The views are wonderful and I have some great pictures. We will visit my Aunt in Wells so have to stop off at the Maine Diner and pick up some clam chowder - yum!! We spoiled our son when he was four so he loves lobster - he is 14 now so eats alot more, hopefully our 11 year old daughter will stick to pasta. Last place we have to go to is Billy's Chowder House - if it is still good. Loved their lobster rolls.
